@Ligue nationale de hockey

Ils doivent se débarrasser des étiquettes de nom. Si bête! L’autre soir, ils avaient aussi le traqueur de rondelle. Ne fonctionnait pas il y a des années, ne le faites pas maintenant 😂😂

i actually like the puck tracker any reason you don’t like it?

  2. BourbonandStargate

God I hated the puck tracker.

  3. Glubins

They are unbearable, it’s so distracting. Makes the powerplay, one the more tense moments in a game, borderline unwatchable.

  4. Odd-Koala1290

I wished they used these name tags on shows like Game of Thrones..

  5. Lethbridgemark

So glad I am in Canada where they don’t have this, just cabbie giving us the updated odds while play is on.

  6. notneeded17

The name tags and puck tracker are good in replays. Live, leave them out.

  7. ForeverJung

Don’t hate it for new watchers. If we’re talking about growing the game, name recognition is important imo

  8. Alien_Cats

How about they make it easier for people to watch without having to purchase multiple streaming options or cable packages?

  9. Over-Supermarket-557

They’re trying to attract new fans!

^(blacking out lots of games and and making it expensive and difficult to actually watch especially out of market and playoffs doesn’t discourage new fans idk what you’re talking about)

I haven’t been watching hockey nearly as much as I used to the last few years. I turned on a game a week or two ago and they had the puck tracker. I was in disbelief lol. I audibly said to myself « No fucking way. No way they brought that shit back »

  11. SnooDoodles5540

Tell me the producers don’t actually watch hockey without telling me: Ballys takes up the bottom of the screen and 20% of puck play with a screen wide score banner –

  12. jholden23

I also don’t ever want to see a coach « interviewed » during a game again. Waste of time and space.

  13. no_more_passwords

What is the Fucking point of the name tags during power plays? Makes no sense.

  14. snowhiteside

I was literally just coming to Reddit to post this exact video 😂 I can’t handle it man ESPN is making it almost unbearable to watch this game

  15. HelpMyCatHasGas

Bruh on the B’s boston broadcast we have ads being superimposed onto the glass. It’s bugging me and my adhd brain

  16. MistaPink

The black puck tracker was so confusing the other night. I kept thinking someone had dropped a stick

  17. ExitTheHandbasket

    It’s only for power plays.

That doesn’t make it any less awful.

  18. Enough-Ad-3111

    The puck tracker is back?

What was cheesy in the 90s is back in style!

  19. Quirky_Pop_3343

    Agree! And women announcers too!

  20. kiiyyuul

In replays, leave them in. Or if they’re discussing a player beyond just a play call highlight them.

  21. Ashamed_Virus_9246

I hate the name tags so much. I also wish they would put the Stanley cup playoffs logo back on the ice and not just generated on for TV. I feel like it adds to the playoff atmosphere; especially when you’re at the game

  22. I’m seeing them in the Wild Stars game and they’re not that invading to be honest

  23. Empty-Refuse8923

Honestly don’t hate it, but then again I use subtitles on every channel lol

  24. v13ragnarok7

USA hockey just doesn’t hit as hard. Try watching hockey from a Canadian broadcast. The networks put on a good show. I hate the changing ads on the boards tho

  25. Bowood29

It annoys me because I want to look at the number to see who the player is.

  26. AdTrue8708

Worse than this is having to listen to the gambling pimp 20 times throughout the course of the game.

  27. mew5175_TheSecond

Other than the fact that the name tracker is super annoying, what I don’t understand is why this is done solely on power plays. Granted, I obviously prefer this to doing it the entire game but what is the significance of the power play where a casual fan will want to know who each player is but 5 on 5 casual fans will go back to being fine not knowing who anyone on the ice is? It makes no sense to me and I would love if someone can explain the logic.

And I say this as someone who has actually spent years in sports broadcasting so usually I can come up with some rationale for why something is happening. But this one I really don’t get.

  28. Benlikesfood2

Hey, thank you for filming this from the side.

  29. Sisboombah74

There’s very little positive you can say about ESPN coverage.

I guess I’m in the minority but I kind of like them. I’m a huge hockey fan, been a hockey player and viewer for 30+ years so not just a newbie trying to get into it – although I think it’s even better for newbies to have an idea what’s happening. It is very hard to follow the puck if you don’t have experience doing it.

I don’t find it too distracting, and when you have 15 other teams who you don’t get to watch as often as your own it’s nice to see who has the puck. I probably only know 5-7 players per team outside the Avs, and definitely not by skating style like I can tell with Colorado players.

  31. Dyldo_II

I think that when it works, it’s really good for either casual watchers or new watchers. It might not be the best system now in terms of functionality, but that doesn’t mean they should scrap it all together and go back to what it was because « change bad. »

I think it’s a really useful tool that just needs a little more love.

You could argue that they should’ve waited until it was fully developed, but if you can’t roll something out like that to stress-test it, you’ll never know what needs to be ironed out.

Keep it, but make it better

  32. Akhanyatin

I may be downvoted for that, but I don’t mind them, and they’re helpful when watching with people who don’t usually watch much hockey. Less questions.

  33. Mary_Montana3045

It’s one of the biggest criticisms of people not in to hockey. They have hard time following puck and seeing who’s who. This is an attempt to gain viewers in playoffs. Let em try it I guess
