Can't belive we played him. Not putting all the blame on him but gus stopped multiple of those same playes. Also his dumb poke checks 😢
If Minnesota bows out again in RD-1 (for the 6th straight time across seven years) last night will be why.
Can’t afford to waste a game against a team like Dallas yet going w/ Fleury is exactly what they did. He hasn’t been the same since Vegas dumped him in Chicago; wonderful player and human being but his heart’s not in this game anymore.
he will not b playing a game again this season, same as when peter deboer tried him in west finale back in 2020
There are other factors, that add to the Wild loss last night, but I 100000000% agree that Gus should have started game 2. An Fleury as a vet of the NHL should have stepped up and said something as well. I am very confused by the decision yesterday, but we let Dallas back in this series. Going to be interesting Friday.
The hardest part of things like this is you don't really know if Gustavsson would have fared any better. In theory, he would have but in reality, can't prove it one way or the other. If you look at the goals scored, if they were soft goals.. he probably would have.. if they were the type that the goalie had no chance (quality deflections, pass rather than shoot leaving the G out of position..etc), he probably would not have… I've not seen the replays cause frankly I stopped rooting for the Stars when the lost the word "North" in their name… and I've not found the same fondness for the Wild…
I saw this video and quickly went to check the boxscore thinking surely the Wild aren't stupid enough to start MAF after Gus just stole game 1 with 51 saves…..and whadddayaakno?? This is the most mind boggling decision I have ever seen!
The "first Dallas Stars shot" was a breakaway by Hintz, one of many lone breaks and 2 on 1 rushes by Dallas's top line. Fleury did not lose this game, Gus would have lost too. The defensive play in front of the net in that game was non-existent.
The Wild went with Fleury to keep the goaltending fresh. It worked well during the season, and this was a road game, so they wanted Gus between the pipes for game three. The coaches and fans could not have foreseen how badly Fleury, and much of the Wild team for that matter, would play.
On the other hand, Fleury does not know how to stay in the net when he needs to, and other teams take advantage of that. It is frustrating to watch.
The signs are that Fleury has lost it, and he may retire after this season if the Wild believe Jesper Wallstedt is ready to back up Gus. If not, it may be one more season as a backup.
What was Minnie thinking? Gustafson had just had a great game then they go to the aging veteran and he played like crap
This loss was 100% on Flower. 77 save percentage is trash. No matter how many odd man rushes. What a horrible miss timed joke.
Whalsteadt is going to own the crease soon enough
I'm a Stars fan and game 2's loss was not all Fleury's fault. The Wild gave up too many odd man rushes/breakaways that the Stars were able to capitalize on. I hate seeing this happen to Fleury, but the Stars just flat out outplayed the Wild.
i think we've seen the last of fleury.
I’m still surprised they told Gustavsson to hit the pine after what he did for them in the 1st game.
As long as Gus doesn’t get hurt, Wild will be A-OK.
MN Wild threw a sound bite of you in one of their videos! Anyways, you made a good point Lego, letting in the first shot on net set the tone. Wild climbed out of a multiple goal deficit more than once and Dallas just kept beating flower not good..
I don't know if I want to be a wild fan anymore.
If it ain't broke don't fix it
As a Wild fan, most of the season we fans have been wondering why Fleury has been getting more games than Gus. In the end they ended up pretty even in games played, but that was because the Wild HAD to win in order to make the playoffs and Gus forced their hands with his play. It's like they're only willing to truly ride the Gus Bus when their backs are against the wall. It's very frustrating, and feels like they're purposely putting their own backs against the wall.
The reason for it has been speculated, but most agree that it's either Guerin pushing for his old teammate to get starts, or it's Evason being inflexible. It might be a little of both. Those two don't really give their real reasons up, so it's hard to know what to believe.
Wild were down two centers. Kaprizov was forcing plays to his buddy Mats. Mats has been average to awful since early March. MAF was bad, true. Game 3, start Gus, get Ek and Harty in there. Part of me wants to sit Mats for a game as I just don't like what he brings in the playoffs.
Fluery is obsolete
THE REAL REASON —-Grant Fuhr had a 92-50-0 playoff's >>>>>>>>> Fleury 92-73-0 in the playoffs –1 more win for 3rd overall ..wink wink 😉 wait till the 2nd or 3rd round to get fleury the win
