Overall Edmonton has been the better team and should be up 2-0.
We are lucky we somehow stole game 1. If the Kings can’t play with as much urgency and passion as Edmonton we don’t deserve to win anymore. To not get a shot in a playoff game for almost a whole period is pretty wild.
The Kings offense is good at deflecting pucks from in front, but they are being pressured up high quickly to prevent that soooo they need to remember you can make the setup pass from the Half-walls as well as the blueline….you can set up the 2-Layers of deflection the same way just trigger it from a different spot. This lets you beat their blueline pressure before you release the setup shots ,pay attention to the handedness of the Player making the setup shots for your deflections you want his backhand facing the wall not the middle of the ice– left shot shooting left side and right on right side so as soon as you beat the blueline pressure you are immediatly on the forehand releasing the shot-pass for the deflections…and just remember that Skinner is a Rookie Goalie so you do need to provide a decent volume of shots and now that you have a new hurry-up option of your own to respond to their blueline pressure you can produce a higher volume of shots into that 2-Layer deflection setup as normal. And if they fail to recover once you "hold on to the puck" and "skate it in ten feet" to beat them on the blueline you just might have an open lane right to the net. Just be aware that they are focusing on preventing you EARLY AND UP HIGH from releasing those outside setup shot/passes from the middle for the 2-layer deflection playaction….thats how they reduced your normal shot-volume…..remember they have a Rookie in net so you simply need to increase the shot volume and he will let in 3+ again.@ 2:59 of Period 2 of Game 2 Boston on the PP executes this playaction however the half-wall man is wronghanded for what we want to see tonight. Its a hurry-up playaction for a PP or in your case as an accurate tactical reply.
