Thomas Drance de The Athletic s’est joint aux gars pour discuter du départ de Jason King des Canucks, du personnel d’entraîneurs tel qu’il est assemblé et de ce qu’il a vu des équipes en séries éliminatoires jusqu’à présent.

first 😀
Hoglander "frustrated" the coaches…but so did half the team and yet ONLY Nils paid the price game after game. If I were Hoglanders agent I'd be watching carefully what the Canucks do with this young man and keeping him in the press box or down in the farm would make me demand a trade and get the kid out of Vancouver to a team where he can flourish. He'd be just one of many that "got away" a la Jared McCann who certainly wouldnt be of any use in the Vancouver Line up am I right ?
Canucks fans: God, I wish Management would fix the Canucks defense!
Canucks Management: We have fired the power play coach Jason King.
Many seem to forget that, in the regular season, a team gets to play the scrubs like the Coyotes, the Ducks, the Hawks and the Blue Jackets multiple times to stack up some wins and to earn some points, but in the playoffs, it is strictly the big boys playing, beating the heads in at each other. The difference in talent and skills as a whole from the Canucks and the playoff teams are quite apparent in this first round. Incremental improvements made to this team may get them into the playoffs because they will win a lot more consistently against the bottom dwellers of the league, but they will be dispatched quickly by one of the better teams once playoffs begin. If this team is still seeing making the playoffs as the goal, it will remain mediocre for another decade.
What if they promoted the sedin to pp coach? I think that would be a nice step for them.
canucks PP may have been top 10 but it damn well did NOT feel like it. Was infuriating to watch often, was entirely stagnant and lifeless. No consistency at all. Not able to get into O zone and setup, often. Way too often.
Heard Drance's wife laughing in the background, all is right in the world.
Looks like the Canucks fired the last guy that liked or tolerated Thomas Drance.
Younger people like Thomas Drance will be astonished to learn that, until recently, all Canadians pronounced "route" like "root". As is of course still the case in the UK and in French, whence it came.
Drance is knocking down a straw man here. Nobody is denying that they're a few players away. Have we already forgotten that, a couple months ago, he was pleading for a total scorched-earth rebuild? As was pretty well the entire Vancouver media. They might now be coming around to the realisation that Jim Rutherford isn't such an idiot after all. More to follow, is what I'd say about that.
Drance is correct, as usual.
The Canucks don't match up well against any team currently playing playoff games in the west, and are nowhere close to being a contending team yet.
Major off-season moves will be required, but no one should be holding their breath for that.
Next.
lets see how toxett reacts when the team quits on him.
Drink every time Drance says “this really annoys me”
Opening acts tend to be better. Speaking of Vanilla Fudge they were better than Hendrix at than Colosseum.
Wouldn't be surprised if the twins start managing the PP unofficially.
Canucks will make the Playoffs next season and Drance will be on the Bandwagon telling every one he told us so. What a Bleep…
God I hate that take at the end of this.
Playoffs in hockey are a complete crap shoot.
Make the playoffs and see what happens. Every team can win in their own way. Maybe the canucks will be a super skilled team that kills on the pp. Who knows. Talking heads sure as heck don't.
The thing I absolutely hate about the Canucks powerplay is that mid ice drop pass. Makes NO sense. The puck carrier has to wait to either dump it in, or wait to cross the blue line because you have 4 players standing still at the opposing blue line
Drance’s negative Nancy routine is getting old.
drance needs to go away he is annoying and doesnt know what he is talking about.
Drance is insufferable.
Hoglander was just as good in game #2 with the game winner.
