Really hoping the NHL’s incompetence saves our ass this time. Makar deserves at least a game for that hit and we aren’t winning with out him

So questions for the referees out there. Was it the lateness of the hit that is considered not clean or the hit itself? I feel like the hit happens in games and in scrums and Cale doesn’t target the head but McCann was not prepared to take the hit leaving him in a vulnerable position. I’m not defending Cale here but am interested to hear exactly what they decide is the infraction.
Also, why is this called interference instead of roughing? The puck wasn’t even in play anymore. Is it because Cale technically impeded his path to skate?

Guys if they announce a “hearing”, that’s means they’ve already decided it’s a suspension. The hearing gives the player a chance to defend themselves or communicate any nuances/circumstances that might have led to justification before they decide how long.
Fines are just announced. This is a suspension, you’ve got to prepare yourself for at least a game without the best D-man in the world. No max fine here.
This would be a nothing burger without the injury, but then again they didn’t give a fuck about Makar’s concussion earlier this year.
Even the refs told Hakstol they thought the puck was in play. It’s unfortunate that Mcann got injured but it was a perfectly clean hit. A suspension would be over the top.

Ridiculous. Refs weren’t even gonna call a penalty until the Kraken player stayed down and the crowd got bent out of shape. There have been worse, intentionally bad, hits that haven’t even gotten called for minor penalties. .
One of our best players our captain injured the whole season, Val sent home due to an alcohol incident at the team Hotel, now our best defender suspended. What a season.

Honestly, it deserves a game and we should be expecting one, regardless of what other players have gotten away with. You just can’t do that.
The inconsistency in reffing, as a new hockey fan, is ridiculous. Those refs get a lot of money to do what they do, and whether it’s corruption, an inability to remember the rules, favoritism, what have you. It’s embarrassing that they call penalties on one team, and that same team commits the same penalties, but they do not get called.
We had two high stick penalties on our guys last night that weren’t called. We should have had at least 4 power plays.
If Tkachuck didn’t get suspended for his hit to Hathaway, then Makar shouldn’t even BE in a hearing for this. Fine him and stop showing blatant preference for the Kraken.

if it is a suspension, this makes me more mad at the shitty saftey since the hit to pavelski was way worse. and Jeff Carter got 0 games and no penalty for running his shoulder into makar, which caused him to miss a week with a concussion.

Makar isn’t dirty. It was a minor penalty. DoPS is a disgrace

I know we’re all bias and we love Makar and we know he doesn’t really do shit like this.. but why are so many people here completely oblivious to the reason the hit was a problem?
McCann did not have the puck.. he shot the puck 3-4 seconds after.. because of that McCann is not bracing himself for a hit there and was in a vulnerable position. It’s not a « clean hit » as I’ve seen a ton of fans say.
I believe Makar’s word that he thought the puck was there + no whistle.. it’s an unfortunate result but it’s cringy seeing the mental gymnastics going on about this.
I’m an Avs fan living in WA and I own 3 Makar jerseys and a Makar hoodie that I wear regularly. I’m worried I might get jumped at this point.
In unfortunate but the NHL has always punished based on injury. If McCann isn’t injured or even if he is available for game 5, then no suspension; but the fact that a team’s leading scorer was injured on penalized hit and is already ruled out for the next game means Makar will be sitting I think. Lets just hope its 1 game. NHL has always operated this way though, not sure the surprise.
If Cale gets suspended because the refs were slow with their whistle, that’ll be the most Colorado thing ever.
It was a beautiful hit by Makar but I’m not upset by this. I expect 1 game and then that settles it on the ice and you really probably don’t have to worry about Cale getting run by anyone, *AND* their top scorer is out.
This is a great trade. The Avs know how to win better without Makar in the lineup than they do without Nichushkin, so I think you can swap a healthy non suspended makar with a jack johnson and hardly notice it at all. Makar also has not been dominant, not even great, at all in this series. Last night was probably his best puck moving night so far and even then he wasn’t great.
