So still nothing of substance really. Lines up with of the speculation floating around, but it’s still clear as mud. I’m ok with that. Let the man be. Let him take care of himself or whatever he needs to. I’ll be here when he gets back on the ice.
Obviously there is more to the story: woman under the influence (of drugs or alcohol) is taken to the hospital and Val goes home…or somewhere but it is not disciplinary or legal, things aren’t adding up. Or Bednar and the Avs are straight up lying, which I suppose is possible if they are still trying to work out how to move forward. If the Post has this, they’d obviously have an arrest record…so it does not seem like a legal issue. I suppose the team could be trying to figure out how to best handle some sort of misconduct issue so as to avoid the backlash the Blackhawks rightfully got during their Cup
run.
If this has something to do with Val’s departure, it would definitely be disappointing if Val was partying that hard mid playoffs. Some organizations would be transparent now, or down the line…with the Avs, there’s a chance we will never know the actual story. Look how literally no one on the outside knew what was going on regarding Landy’s knee and how it was related to the skate blade injury.

Obviously want nuke back, we need the experience and goals, and there’s not much detail to what happened, but it not a good look if someone without a passport that doesn’t want to be in the United States ends up in an alcohol-related emergency at the team hotel room. Waiting for some semblance of a factual account obviously, just sucks all around right now as a fan.

Very odd to have a almost blackout women in your team hotel room at 3:20 in the afternoon. Many ways that could of happened, many ways that legally could have happened many ways that illegally could of happened
Also remember real stories take time to leak out, we probably won’t have the full story till like august

I respect the Denver post but why do this to the team the night before an elimination game?
So, reading between the lines here.
Val got into one. Might be a mental health problem. Might be taking a toll on his marriage and he has to figure this out, before returning to the team.
All in all I wish the best for him, I’m happy it’s not a legal situation, and I wish we could all respect his privacy now.
Isn’t it always announced when someone goes into the player assistance program? I would think that that would have already happened in a situation like this. Unless Nuke doesn’t think he has a problem.

I would hope that the league steps in here and makes sure that this isn’t a problem bigger than one player. Just to ease everyone’s minds if nothing else.

This situation sounds fubar. So much left to speculate on. Sounds like some kind of trafficking vibe imo. All in all, not a good look for for Val but who tf knows what’s really going on. Just hope we get some clarity in the next couple days.
So if he ends up missing all these games because he had to go do damage control due to his infidelity that is really shitty.
I have to assume since no criminal stuff is going on that the bad person who took the passport is not Nuke so that’s good.

No wonder the boys look tired. Their wives are probably checking in on them all night to make sure they don’t have any “guests” up in their rooms.

This is all so damn strange, feel like we are missing a few of the details still. To me, I can’t help but think that the team was misdirecting with the comments about « not disciplinary, not legal. » If this isn’t disciplinary, shouldn’t it be? If this is a trafficked prostitute, which i think we can read between the lines on, shouldn’t it be legal also? I dunno man.

Quite frankly I think the specifics of the situation are largely irrelevant. At the end of the day, we’re not children and we can put two and two together. I’m willing to bet that Val’s reason for leaving was NOT him getting a family call right after a prostitute has to be given medical care.
You know what the effects of this are going to be? His teammates will be mocked and hounded for the big scoop on Val’s shenanigans. Landeskog held a press conference specifically to avoid inconveniencing his team with the constant questions surrounding him. Val decided to skip town during the playoffs so he wouldn’t be around when the police report inevitably got released.
Regardless if the woman was trafficked or not, Val was partying it up with some strange woman in his room with alcohol abounding instead of preparing for an important game.
at this point i just hope the avs can terminate his contract without penalty. i knew his and landys contracts were gonna age poorly but i had no idea it would be this poorly…

The fact this all happened at 3:30 in the afternoon on game day is weird. This jump to prostitution seems off base with the little information given. For all we know, she could have been that one drunk friend (we all have one). But as expected, information was bound to come out. I’ll reserve my opinions for when more comes out.
I can’t imagine nuke is gone cause of anything other than this which means there has to be more to this story that hasn’t come out yet.
