Well, DOPS’s decision looks infinitely worse now.

  2. TheJetCityFix

    Man….terrible situation all around.

  3. Hawkfan15

Welp ngl Ebs deserves at least a game for this. Probably more.

  4. steppewarhawk

First off, why the fuck was he allowed to play the rest of the game?

Secondly, this coming out after the DOPS saying no Eberle hearing means Avs are gonna be headhunting.

  5. IamAdogRooRoo

Just curious, but do Kraken fans think Eberle has to fight for this hit now that there was no supplementary discipline?

  6. chrislongman

I love me some Ebs, but DOPS is a fucking joke. If injuries are taken into account, then Ebs should be sitting at least a game. That’s just a baseline level of consistency.

  7. seataccrunch

Oh man, thats bad. Two stupid ass dangerously plays in this series. Avs fans none too pleased

  8. Go_Hawks12

How did he return to the ice? Actually crazy

I’m not here to check reciepts or anything but respect to those of you that have said it was a bad hit from the beginning. Less respect to the ones that flip flopped only after the news about the fracture.

The former group makes up for the bad takes from the vocal minority who were out for blood after the Makar/McCann incident in my eyes.

All injuries suck and the game is always better when teams are fully healthy. Regardless of the outcome, the style these two teams play makes for really exciting games, unlike some of the slogs in the east. Hope we get a rematch in the future with fully healthy teams for the entire series.

Edit: to add to my agreement with responses so far. I always find it’s best to be a fan of the game first and fan of your team second. Generally makes it pretty easy to know where to stand on divisive issues.

Not that surprised of the injury based on the replay.

Avs fan here: when the Makar hit happened I completely understood why he was suspended and agreed with the suspension. However, Seattle has now taken out two Avs players (Helm and Cogliano) with a brutal cross check to Helm’s neck and now this. What are fans supposed to expect if there’s no consistency at all. What are players supposed to think. DOPS really dropped the ball. Other than the injuries, it has been a good hard fought series up to this point and my hat is off to the Kraken team for such a turn around this season. They are a legit solid team. I’m sick of the media pushing the Kraken like they are some Cinderella story. No. They are a high quality team that deserves to be where they’re at.

Hopefully there are no more injuries tomorrow night.

Didn’t he play out the rest of the game?

  13. YaBoyDake

It was a bad hit. Ebs not getting a DoPS review really highlights how shitty the process is at the moment.

  14. Ooooooof yeah cannot believe they didn’t suspend Ebs at least one game. That’s fucking terrible, poor kid

  15. piedpepperoni

That sucks. That was a dirty hit (whether intentional or not, it _was_ ) and while the fan in me is happy the Kraken aren’t down Eberle… they really should be. That’s not ok, and it’s not ok to set the precedent that it’s acceptable to do that.

  16. stumbletownbc

Holy shit! I hope he’s ok longterm

  17. Exciting_Ad4264

I hope everyone in Seattle boos Eberle every time he’s within 200 feet of the puck, ya know since they hate « dirty » players soooo much

  18. l2ooster

Eberle is my favorite and we all knows hes not a dirty player. Lets go ahead and suspend him for game 7. I don’t like the idea of Colorado headhunting or this being blamed for them losing if that happens.

  19. alienbanter

I can’t believe that he went back into the game and that Eberle had no hearing/suspension. DOPS is a complete joke. It makes me uncomfortable to support the league by watching games

Just to be clear, you can break your spine without having any risk of paralysis, the spinous and transverse processes can fracture but the integrity of the vertebrae is completely intact. I remember CJ McCollum playing with a broken back in the playoffs a few years back. He was joking about it, “ I broke my back, Thpinal!”

  21. amandaarawrr

This is terrible. I was shocked that Ebs didn’t have a hearing and thought for sure he would be out for Game 7. The news of Cogs injury just makes it so much worse. I can’t believe he came back to play, I hate to even imagine what would have happened if he was hit again.
