First three penalties were some weak as fuck calls. Even with that we owned the ice first period. It went off the rails after that and I’d like to recommend someone in the Devils organization reminding Lindy Ruff that he can call time out to regroup. It is actually allowed. Lastly, Trocheck is a piece of shit player and I hope he literally has a short career. Fuck him he’s dirt.
Please do it in 7. I just went to a bar knowing I’d be outnumbered 10/1 by rag fans and got shit on all game by all of them.
Honestly I think this one is on us as the fans, I’m seeing a whole lot of people here admitting trying different things in the fansensive zone – ordering pizza from a new spot, watching the game in a different room, wearing a different hat. I gotta take some of the blame as well, I’ve watched this whole series alone and tonight I invited my neighbor over to watch the devils finish the series.
We’ve got to clean this up, we’re watching against a savage fan base here and we can’t be changing up our play when the team has a chance to clinch the series.
This is a learning experience for us, we’re an inexperienced fan base in the playoffs but now we have been shown what it takes to win game 7. I want the game 3,4, and 5 rituals for this next one. No new pizza spots, no dumb new hats on the way to grab beer, no alternate jerseys.
Let’s get out there and show these fans what Jersey is made of for game 7.
Was there tonight. If we hd closed out that first period the game would have gone much differently. Go back to how we played the last 3. Shut down their offense. Stay disciplined, refs are going to call anything. Giving them 4 power plays in a row totally shifted the momentum. Clean it up. Our big guns need to finish our chances. Timo, Nico, Hughes, Bratt, even Dougie. Figure out how to put the puck in the net. Also need to turn up the heat on our PP. Do those things and we win the series.

Total domination in the first period and then the penalty happens and they shut down. Horrible.
Played well the 1st period just lost our momentum from the penalties. Refs weren’t our friends tonight but every call made on us was legit. Just gotta forget everything and be ready on Monday.
Hope timo gets credited for that save on the empty net. The last 5 mins were very entertaining the boys knew it was a lost cause but they were still playing hard. Never seen a team last so long with no goalie. If Igor wasn’t on a mission think we could have turned that 3rd period around. Feeling confident for game 7. Rangers SUCK!

Can some confirm if I am correct: If the oilers close out the series tonight, our game 7 will start at 8pm, if kings force a game 7, our game will start at 7pm.
More worried about seeing lines tomorrow than game 7. Hopefully nothing crazy changes; I think the lines are solid. Maybe run 11/7 and take out a 4th/3rd liner that doesn’t special teams.. thinking boq for L Hughes
Rags were fighting for their lives and they were due to have a good outcome at home like we did Thurs night. They capitalized on our mistakes and we couldn’t beat Igor on our chances, which we had plenty. Devils weren’t outright awful but Rags were clearly the better team executing tonight – desperately need one or preferably several of Timo, Nico, Bratt and to a certain extent, Jack again, to find the net on Monday…they got a couple of their guys going, we NEED ours to. Also need to do a better job being quick on zone exits, our D wasnt as sharp as last couple of games moving the puck up ice fast.
Closing out a series is the next milestone for this team – I believe in the boys being able to get it done and make the Rock go crazy Mon night. Stay calm and LGD!

I mean if that was a no call high stick on Panarin, Kreider, Kane, Zibanejad, etc. we would’ve seen it the rest of the game on a continuous loop and reminded by ABC staff how it was missed over & over again
I would put Shango in for Boqvist. Boqvist may be a bit more responsible and hard on the forecheck but he has no offensive prowess. Also need Palat off Hughes line. Bratt-Hischier-Meier, Shango-Hughes-Merecer, Tatar-Haula-Palat, Lazar-McCleod-Bastian

Silver lining. I had +8000 odds for the Devils shot total to end in with the number 6 and the Rangers to end with the number 9… final shots were 36 Devils/29 Rags…

Is there a man or woman here who is willing to at least give Jesper Bratt a handy? Man is a nervous wreck out there.
My take:
1) We didn’t play terribly, but Rags played better
2) 4 penalties in a row killed our momentum
3) Shesterkin was a wall tonight
4) Coming back down 2-0 and winning 4 in a row was always going to be difficult
5) Devils have proven on multiple occasions in the regular and post season to never count them out
Monday is going to be an epic game
biggest issue is stringing together stupid fucking penalties back to back. it takes us away from our strength (5×5) and leans into the rags strength on pp. Palat may have got us going last game – but he pretty much cost us the game tonight. After the 4 penalties in a row to close out the 1st / open the 2nd – we never found our rhythm again.
Failed to put them away when we had them on the ropes, now we find ourselves facing elimination.
Here is the thing: Because it is against the Rangers, even though it is round 1, this is the series that every Devils fan wants to win the most, except the Cup round if we get there. We want this more than we want to win round 2 or round 3.
For Monday, Ruff and the Devils need (1) some adjustments to the adjustments the Rangers made tonight, (2) stop giving them PPs, (3) generally play cleaner and quicker in puck movement than we did tonight past 18th min of 1st, (4) rock solid goaltending. Play our best game. Make it 5v5 game, not a PP parade game. Play a little smarter and with fewer mistakes than tonight.

We have a great shot at advancing at home. Tonight to win four in a row was a tough task. that’s a sweep if the math checks out. Also the Rangers are a good team like it or not tough for me to even say it, for a good team to lose three in a row at home unlikely. Re-group and go after it and I like our chances to close this bad boy out! Go Devils.
