This one I called correctly. I am not surprised. Always a tendency for those having had a dominant season to tank in the playoffs. I thought the Bruins would be eliminated in round 1 well before the playoffs even started.

Wow, it really happened !!!! I was wondering of this scenario early on that it has happend many times that a President Trophy winner been eliminated in 1st or 2nd round.
But this…this is something truly different. Exit 1st round AFTER having:
1. A record-breaking season with 65 wins = most wins & points in a season in NHL history…
2. Having top level scoring that could season wise rical many dominating championship teams of the past
3. Top level goaltending with the Vezna Trophy candidate winner Linus Ullmark having been dominating….
4. 3-1 lead in series over the Panthers, to close them out at 5 games….and lose it all to see the Panthers come back and win 3 straight to take the 3-4 series win !!!
Yeah this upset is a BIG one. Arguably THE worst upset loss ever.
And oh man…the defending Stanley Cup champions Colorado Avalanche gets eliminated in 1st round to 2022 expansion team Seattle Kraken…..wow.

I’m not a fan of either team but this series has been insane to watch. Gotta give props to Florida for not giving up when they were down 3-1 in the series. Great hockey. And Seattle advanced too.
I didn’t have a horse in this race but was pulling more for Florida. Seeing them win was cool but seeing swayman hiding his face was heartbreaking
This Panthers team is essentially the same team that won the president’s trophy just last year. 4-3 in OT in game 7 is about as close as it gets. Boston blew it, but this isn’t anywhere close to Tampa getting swept in 2019. I expect a slew of one year deals for Boston. No way they are going out like that.
Just a question that popped into my head this morning….which series loss is more embarrassing; This series (where the Bruins were up 3-1 and lost) or the 2019 Tampa/CBJ series where Tampa got swept. Both teams had incredible regular seasons, and absolutely laid an egg in the first round. Just curious what people think is worse; getting swept, or losing 3 straight when you had a chance to eliminate the opposition
This was quite the choke, but I would still say this doesn't beat the lightning being swept by the wildcard Blue Jackets after TYING the regular season record a couple years ago. They got too comfortable though and expected to win. Learned the hard way you can't do that in the playoffs.
The funniest part about the series is, the best record GS Warriors blew the same 3 game lead with the best record. At least they made it out the first round though
As a Habs fan, I’d love to take delight in this upset, but all I feel is shock and disappointment.
I hate the term President’s Trophy Curse. Boston and other first-finishing teams get cocky and like you said, look past their opponents. That’s not a curse—it’s a self-inflicted wound.
