There’s no way Stammer doesn’t take a team-friendly contract, right? He’s won two cups, made tons of money, and gets to play for one of the best organizations in the league. I’ll support him no matter what, but I’d be shocked if he went somewhere else.
Oh Captain, my Captain 🥹
The cap goes to 92 mil in 2 years time, which is 10+ increase from this year. If Stammer can take a deal for like 5-6 mil it would be perfect as we would have enough space to actually acquire defensemen and not worry about having half an AHL defense roster.
We love you Stammer, we may say some mean shit in the GDTs but you’re always our Captn
As much as I would love for him to stay, we have to understand that we are not in the same situation as Penguins, who pretty much said «fuck it, we want them to retire as Pens so we’ll give them contracts». We still have a young core of competitive players in Cirelli, Hagel, Point, Vasy, Sergachev and so on. We can’t afford to let Stamkos stay if it doesn’t make sense from hockey perspective. So while again I’d love for him to stay, if it’s not on a very team-friendly deal, I’m not seeing how it could happen, especially since we need to sign Hagel
Gonna say exactly what I said over in /r/hockey.
I will never fucking forgive you JBB if you let either of Stamkos or Hedman walk.
I’d rather be fucking irrelevant for the next 7-10 years than see them get traded or walk.
And he’s going to be the last person to ever wear 91 for the Lightning
I really think he could end up coaching for us when his time playing is over. He has excellent leadership skills and the players really respond to him.
🥹 he will always be the best captain
Seeing Vinny wear a Flyers uniform was disgusting. I don’t think I’d ever forgive the Lightning if I had to see Stamkos play for anybody but us. I don’t care if he wants to play until he’s 45. Give him that contract.
I imagine he signs 5-6m at 3-4 years or 4-5m at 5 maybe 6 years.
Good money for him well into his late 30’s good deal for the Lightning if he can put up over 60 points for another 3 seasons and over 40 for the last 2 or 3. Get’s him to 20 season’s and at least 1300 games well within retirement age.
The mortifying ordeal of living through the end of a golden hockey era has once again presented itself
