As always, I’ll hold my breath on Tomlin being able to develop drafted cornerbacks. Every coach has their strengths and weaknesses. Some more than others in one are or another. Fact of the matter is in his whole career, Ike Taylor and Joe Haden have by far been his best corners. One was in town playing before Tomlin arrived and the other came from the stains

Good show DK. I very much enjoy your work. Do you think that the rumors are true in that JPJ is going to wear number 24 to honor Ike Taylor?
Could you see Trice eventually be able to play that 3rd safety in the 3 safety look? Obviously he would have to make the 53 of course, but if that were the case, could you Dk?
I don't really buy the Peterson moving to safety talk. I'm sure there will be plays where he does drop back and covers a deep third of the field, but I think his primary position is cornerback. He and Porter will be the outside guys and Wallace and Pierre bring really good depth. As for safety usage and the slot corner your guess is as good as mine. My money is on Keanu playing the traditional strong safety role while Kazee and Minkah roam around making interceptions off all the passes Peterson and Porter are going to be tipping. I think the impact those two outside corners are going to make is really, really underrated!
Good morning DK, no question, just an observation. It seems to me like they've been focusing coverage skills on the secondary, while focusing on run stuffing in the middle and front. Let the DL and LB do the tackling so the secondary can cover. Seems obvious, but as many tackles as the secondary has had to handle the last couple years, it definitely feels like they're trying to change that.

I agree, DK. Trice is very interesting. As far as Porter Jr, I think he should start if he is even close to the vets in performance. He will take a couple lumps but I'm sick of talented rookies rotting on the bench.

Tis a far better problem having more DB’s than not enough. The questions surrounding who stays and who goes will be worked out. I’m certainly not going to lose any sleep over it. May the best players earn their keep.
Lots of DB talent is a good problem to have. I also have complete confidence in the defensive coaches. The offence with Canada as it’s designer is a different story – it’s a wait and see situation, unfortunately.
DK, do you think that Broderick Jones and Darnell Washington success of blocking on the left side will transfer to the NFL?

There has been a lot of talk about JPJ since the draft, but the number one pick is a monster who has a ridiculous ceiling and the “analysts” are quiet. Why? I am so excited to see the brutal play that B Jones brings to the Oline and watching him battle D Moore for the LT position. Why is there so much more noise about JPJ and not BJ77?

DK Actually I don't think it's really that hard to see what they are doing in the secondary just by understanding these guys skill sets. You guys hardly watch other players either before or even during the season of other teams. They actually have a very nice plan with these guys and how they can utilize them in packages. I guess you have to have played ball to see Ball. There is A LOT of Talent in the secondary in both individual talents and how they can and will eat together. That confusion is exactly what they want DCs and QBs to see. Training camp will show how they can work together and who will be where but the Plan is Absolutely Clear and developing quite nicely. Injuries happen which is why Now you have more depth than just Cam Sutton and Can we stop acting as if Cam was Pat Peterson the entire time he was at Pitt. He grew over years and the last 2 yrs came to where we needed him to be. Like Bud Dupree. You guys need to watch more tape and remember more stuff. Lol. We have More Talent NOW in the secondary than we had in years.

Not on subject but thought it was funny just watched Joey B on will Smith's son and just had to say Joey Sr you did a good job raising your son. Joey Jr grew up with money an easier path than Joey same with the Smith kid but just look at the difference between the 2. Parenting is so important and as a linebacker with his attitude he did a great job as a father also. Kinda worried about will Smith's son kid needs help. Just thought it a lil funny.

This whole situation smells like they're transitioning to a 4-3 base defense.
JPJ will be tested during the preseason. Adapting to the NFL level of play will factor into whether he starts.
