I saw a great comment on an earlier post, Syl Apps (our captain then) fought in the trenches of World War 2 and knew how to fight to win, our captain is too scared to go into the corner to fight for a puck
Also there’s more at play during that playoff round, on one hand, you can make the arguement that was a second round (back then there was only 2 rounds in the playoffs) however a major reason the Leafs won that series was Jack Adams, the coach of the Detroit tried to fight the refs and got kicked out and suspended the rest of the series, Detroit was winning Game 4 at that point, but without their superstar coach, they completely collapsed

Syl literally fought in a war, Marner, Nylander and Matthews would refuse to forecheck because it might break their finger nails, and don’t get me started on how Tavares has the charisma of a cucumber.
If they played all of game three like they did in the third period of game two then maybe I’d be willing to believe it’s possible that they were capable of continuing to outplay Florida enough to the point of equalizing the series, but they just looked straight up bad last night. Not only do you need to play better than Florida, you need to play good enough to outplay any variance in bad luck or bad reffing.

My crystal ball prognostication is that the boys win the next game, maybe even the one after, and then spend 60 minutes dogfucking once they give us all hope that they might pull out something amazing. I don’t think we get swept, I’m more confident than I should be that we get at least one.
Obviously I’d kill to be wrong and have the Leafs work some witchcraft.
I guess technically the only way they could make this happen would be to lose the first 3 games. Maybe it’s all going to plan…

The only thing this team does consistently well is choke. That’s all I’m expecting on Wed … or any game thereafter.
This is the Leafs. The most Leafs thing would be to come back in spectacular fashion, last until game 7 and then blow an early lead and then go out in overtime (basically game 3 all over again).
2023…. 20+23 is 43… 2nd round… 43*2 is 86… where are the top 6…? 86-6 is 80…
