Smith, surprisingly, had a really good game 3 defensively as well. He's definitely not a favorite, by he does throw out some good physicality when needed.
But, he also got very lucky early on that he didn't get called for a high stick with bleeding. 😅 Smith and Penalties like peanut butter and jelly, man.
that was one of the worst games of the season. Defensively. 3 shorties! Inexcusable!!! Canes hit the post 2 or 3 times. The amount of turnovers is scary. The offence bailed us out. But this is why we need our top guys start producing. This game showed the life is much easier when the offense is working. Despite the defense horror show. But, as they say, defense wins Cups the Devils need to tighten up at the back otherwise no offence is gonna help them
We still need to stop the Canes stretch passes along with the quick tips into the middle of the ice that they use to advance into the neutral zone without having to out-skate us, this also prevents us from getting turnovers on the rush because the puck spends such a little amount of time in the neutral zone. SECONDLY we have to find a way to counter act there 1, 2, 2 fore-check, it suffocates us in our own end and causes mayhem and is preventing us from getting the puck out of our own end.
As for a goalie I would also go with Schmid. But at the same time you cannot blame Vanecek for two breakaway goals and one penalty shot.
I just realized that Luke’s number is half of 86. I assume that’s deliberate

Look at the stats, just look at them. Stop cherrypicking one or 2 stats in which Timo is not the bottomest of bottoms.
Points? he is on par with your "blind squirrel". Points per time on ice he is just terrible.
I know regular season and playoffs are not comparable, but his production is trending for a 9 point regular season 😀
he is a minus, of course, but pretty much everyone is, expect BMW and the blind squirrel. In terms of production he is up there with Tatar as total disappointments so far. While Tatar is -5, at least he only has 4 PIM, Meier has 20, leading NJD forwards (another one he is leading I guess :D)
he has 2.9% shooting, worst on the team among those with 10+ shots, and it's not like he is shooting for rebound all the time, he gets a save a lot.

Great individual and team efforts for the most part, aside from shaky goaltending and some defensive miscues, a couple of days ago, tonight will determine whether or not we have an actual series.
If our PP is gonna go 1-for-the-season against the Canes, they very well can't be giving up short-handed goals left and right, they have to clean that up and they better do it soon.
Looks like The Vitek is getting the start tonight which frankly terrifies me. Akira hasn't been much better, if that, in this series. We'll see how they fare but it'll be a nail-biter regardless.
Keep up the Timo Time hype, he's a stud for us. He brings more than just points which will come (as seen in game 3).
As for Vitek, yes he gave up 4 and that's not great. However 3 breakaways and an unguarded Aho one-timer from the slot aren't on the goalie.
