That was tough… but honestly the team did collapse in the 3rd. Can't blame that call in OT for Vinny, tough break but remember… we did lose game 1 last year too and to the Flames. Oilers will bounce back for sure. It's a 7 game series not a 1 game serie. LETS GO OILERS!!
I had a Feeling we weren't winning Game 1 Pat like giving up leads is very unacceptable to do in 3rd period 3-1 leads I just don't understand why this curse leads keep happening to us. I know it's early still but two ways I could see this 1 L.A Takes both games this week but we take both games in L.A or 2 we ties the series on Wednesday but lose 1 out of the 2 games in Los Angeles all in all I can't accept a painful loss for EDM's sake like they deserve to win more then L.A dose. I don't even wanna accept the fact if we do get eliminated in 1st Round it would be a huge disappointment on the Management or worse McJesus cause there's no way he wastes another career season with high points 152 and 64 goals this year the window is now so I suggest a must win on Wednesday is necessary so yeah im tired hate the refs tonight probably gonna have nightmares but i'll try to keep positive for Game 2 or it's about to get Ugly for this series Goodnight.
First game of the 2022/2023 playoffs for the Oilers. There were a LOT of hits in this game. There were also way too many Oilers penalties including a monumentally foolish one by Evan Bouchard (high sticking) with less than 2 minutes to play in the 3rd period when the Oilers "were" (past tense) up by one goal. Then we got OT. I wish Bouch's penalty was the only one I had issues with but it isn't. Kane took another foolish one in the 2nd period (with just over 1 minute to play). They didn't score on either of Kane's two penalties in the 2nd but the one near the end of the period could have been avoided (and tripping a minute into a period when you're up by 2, gee, lets have a closer game than we need, again, LA didn't score on that but could have). Ryan's OT goal overturned due to a high stick. Vinny Desharnais with a tripping penalty in OT (not good, really not good) and LA scores to win the first game in Edmonton on a shot by Iafallo. Anze Kopitar with 3 assists and Kempe with 2 goals for LA. Here's hoping they can keep it together next game.
😂 Dude. I feel for you, and I still pick EDM in Six, but all this crying in Alberta about “the bad call in OT” is such garbage. It’s as good of a “must call” penalty as you’re going to see. The KiNgStEr (Lizotte, I think?) was heading towards either a potential breakaway or at least a 2-on-1 break. Can you imagine the outrage if McDavid (or anyone on EDM was in that position) and the fallen King swings his stick under your players skate resulting in a fall with no call? My ears would still be ringing from the cries coming out of Roger Place!
You all are looking for someone to blame, but the only blame lies with the Oiler team for taking two stupid penalties and not killing them off at the most crucial times of the game after dominating the kings for 95% of the play. Oilers will likely be fine, so quit blaming the refs for making the right call. It’s a bad look.
Playoffs is a different animal and We all know that the Oilers need to fight harder and the king's goalie save the King team and Oilers fans should know how hard it is to win in the playoffs 👍🏾💯🇨🇦 Good job Patrick 👍🏾💯
Bahahhahhha🫣🤦♂️🤮😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣. Go Kings!! Deadmonton is just a laughable tire fire. Zero Goaltending. Zero D. A player who scores 700 points a year but is a whining Ghost when it counts. He’s been told he’s the best his whole life, and he actually believes it. Bahhahhhahaha. Time to book Tee times boys!!!!!! 😂🤣😂🤣😅🤣. Go Kings.
As soon as I saw Nurse out there with Ekholm on the right side in the last minute of the 3rd, I knew Nurse would not watch the cross crease, he’s trash
Don’t take unnecessary penalties next game and play like you did the first 2 periods and that’s an easy win. Am I mad? Yes. Am I concerned? Not really. McDavid is due for a big game after having 0 points. Draisaitl had a great game. Bouchard had a good game until he cost them the game with the penalty
How are you idiots really blaming the broken stick? Watch the fucking close up instead of crying like little girls because you all wanna blame the refs. Close up clearly shows the guy tripped him before he even hit the stick! Jesus man you fans are annoying.
Brother! That was an obvious tripping penalty Vincent committed LOL… he should have maintained control of his stick instead of swinging it around hitting Lizotte's skate blade… HIS mental error cost the oilers the game, not the refs 😂
2 goals disallowed and penalties six to three. Refs definitely played a big role in the outcome of the game, but the reason the Oilers lost is because of a lack of discipline. Kane didn't need to take his 2 penalties, Bouchard lost his cool, and Desharnais was careless with his stick after he fell. Weak call, but that was a clear trip right in front of the ref.
great Tip by Ryan….. but what is McLeod doing shooting it 2' over the net…. That is why he has to be a low paid 4th line grinder…. (Yamo is the same). Big money has to be for guys that can finish (hit the net at least). Bouch lost the game for the guys – he does it so often (wonder how he can be so unaware). Hope they stay positive & that coach actually coaches – tells them the basics (team w most penalties loses) so team is not ready to win playoff hockey…& every penalty was just due to being careless/lazy… ie not to stop a goal etc… but maybe can learn. If a player doesn't have ability to play 15mins w/o costing a penalty -they are not at playoff hockey level. Bruins had 2 penalties vs EDM had 7…. If not fixed = no chance.

Way to blow two goal leads and then lose in overtime. WTF man.

Ahead 3-1 in the 3rd in a playoff game. You have to shut things down and win in that situation.
It’s playoffs. Lessons learned. That’s why it’s best of 7. Next game they will be ready
Gotta have faith in the boys.
Swings his stick at Lizotte's feet, Lizotte goes down.
How is that not a penalty?

I don't get why they called that Penalty
Careless penalties. Put it on the shelf and win the next game
Trip is a trip. Overtime or not. Earlier the refs missed obvious cross-check against lizotte. Can't blame refs for this loss.

It was a penalty & you guys blew two 2goal leads, #rookiegoaltender
The Oilers found a way to lose this one.
It's better that the boys blow a lead in game 1 than game 7
Weak goaltending, again.
Oilers need Balkan players like Kopitar, Sakic or the Mahovolic brothers !
Playoffs is a different animal and We all know that the Oilers need to fight harder and the king's goalie save the King team and Oilers fans should know how hard it is to win in the playoffs 👍🏾💯🇨🇦 Good job Patrick 👍🏾💯
Bouchard and Kane have to reign in the emotions/penalties
Come on man don’t be at homer! He swung his Stick and totally caught Lizotte’s skate. I get it You are totally bummed, but a penalty is a penalty.

Oilers snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
You fans are soooo weak. It’s game 1 for crying out loud. “Their is no excuse for the oilers gameplay” … really?
Evander Kane is a loser with his attitude and penalties. Never liked him.
As soon as I saw Nurse out there with Ekholm on the right side in the last minute of the 3rd, I knew Nurse would not watch the cross crease, he’s trash

Either way they needed to be more disciplined. The OT should never have happened. Never mind the penalites, as one sided they ended up being.
How are you idiots really blaming the broken stick? Watch the fucking close up instead of crying like little girls because you all wanna blame the refs. Close up clearly shows the guy tripped him before he even hit the stick! Jesus man you fans are annoying.

I am a jets fan but rooting for all Canadian teams…I was sad on the loss. Anyways good luck on the next game.
