  1. I'm quite curious about how they will deal with Michkov in the Draft. The player is a talent, there is no doubt about that, but there is a real risk that he will end up at least like Yevgeni Malkin, who fled Russia for the Pens.

Choosing Michkov means that if Michkov ever wants to play in the NHL, he will have to do it like Peter Šťastný – by escaping from a totalitarian state. Well, which team will risk it? The first one that comes to mind is Arizona, they have the 6th and 12th picks, so if they sacrifice the 6th, they can still get a quality piece from the 12th with the quality of this year's draft.

Something similar is also the case with Montreal, but it is questionable how Florida will end up there, because Montreal has the choice – and Florida still hasn't dropped out. 😄 So they will probably use their choice from the 5th place to choose someone who will not have to emigrate from their country.

St. Louis even has 3 picks in the first round, but the first of them is only in 10th place, and the remaining 2 belong to Dallas and Toronto, so they will be quite late picks.

Well, the rest was quite affected by the first round of the playoffs, where teams that were not expected to advance advanced, and thus their exchanged draft picks lost a bit of their attractiveness.

  2. He need build future line Slafkovsky , Mešár and he need center there IS question if he risk and pick Smith who Can or cant work with that two ppl or he pick Dvorský who have played with this two players and destroy Hlinka/Gretzky cup …

  3. Do you really see Michkov go down as a 5th pick ? He won't be first, 2 is also unlikely but at 3rd you have the CBJ with a prospect pool so impressive they are the one team that can wait long enough for him. They're also the one team that does not crave for a Will Smith as they already have a Jordan Dumais (go see his numbers and then consider he only plays 2nd line, crazy), a Leo Carlsson would be somewhat close in profile to a Fix-Wolansky or a Malatesta, they have some crazy good D-line prospects as well (Mateychuck, Svozil, Jiricek) who'd be able to compensate the few Michkov shortcomings. We'll see what they do, but I wouldn't be surprised if they select him. They already have Dolzhenkov they're monitoring over there from the other team completely under the regime's grasp.

  4. Michkov needs weight, he's only 148 lbs. & If the Habs wants W. Smith they need to trade up w. Columbus @ #3 or San José @ #4! Michkov is very tiny!

  5. How about trading down – a couple of times. Acquire a later 1st round pick and a 2nd round each time you trade down. It might be better to have multiple 2nd, 3rd and 4th round picks along with a mid to late 1st rounder (12th – 24th) thsn yo acquire a can't miss who either doesn't live up to the ratings or costs in cap space while these later picks might cost less, provide intensity and grit and sciting by committee.

  6. I wouldn't be surprised if Michkov or Carlsson were available at 4-5. There are teams that are very high on Smith. I think Smith would be a better fit with the Ducks than Fantilli as 1-2C with McTavish. Ducks also already have a big C prospect Nathan Gaucher. People often forget that draft day and draft rankings is not the same things. Each teams have players they like and don't like. Sometimes multiple teams have the same player they are 'blah" on. I think this year, that player may be Fantilli. I don't know why, but he reminds me of Lafreniere. My prediction. 1.Bedard 2. Smith 3. Michkov (BlueJackets most likely to swing for the fence with Michkov) 4. Fantilli (nice fit in SJ) 5. Carlsson (no brainer for Montreal)

  7. sadly Michkov still has 3 years left in KHL but was that friendly or forced deal???? his dad dies under suspicious conditions, Russia is at war, will KHL last–will Russia last…too many unknown variables and we have no control of them. will he be forced to go to war and god help he does not and if he does he survives…after the U18 tournament Smith was quite impressive

  8. They will move the pick if Will Smith is unavailable.
They will move it and drop a spot or 2 for Dalibor Dvorsky

  9. Here's an idea. Carter Hart for 5th overall?
You add a Dubois and wait for the team to blossom in defence with Mailloux and Hutson.??? We got pp specialists in defence, key players Dach Suzi CC Guhle maybe Slaf soon.. add maybe Dubois for cheap if possible? And Carter Hart at nets…….to me that's scary you fill the rest with the very deep draft assets we got RHP Josh Roy kidney mesar.. beck.. Farrell… Etc.

  10. Let's say. We trade with Boston the 5th Overall pick and Jake Allen vs Jeremy Swayman and the 28th Overall pick. I don't think Boston would do it. But would you ?

  11. The only way they trade the tth overall pick would be a scenerio where the player they really want is gone at 5 and the Rangers offer Lafreniere and their own 1st rd pick . or they move down a couple spots to obtain another asset and still draft a player they want

  12. Hi, Josh and Jesse. Thank you for a great live show last night, Josh. With my mental health issues, it’s hard to connect with people. You and Jesse made it easy. I look forward to your posts on YouTube every day. I've been subscribed for a long time now. I don't know what Hughes is going to do. But I really want and hope he picks Michkov. I hope you both have a great day. Go Gallagher Go! Lol!!!

  13. Hughes is a complete joke. Last year the very day of the draft. He said. ''We don't know who to choose''

  14. If Hughes trades the 5th overall pick this year for PLD then he should be lynched in Montreal. That would be the dumbest move possible. PLD is over rated and over paid, simply not the player everyone seems to think he will be.

  15. "I can predict we will go with mitchkov or Smith" bro pick 1-2-3 are mostly locked already what is that prediction lol… "I can predict the sun will rise tommorow"

  16. Flyers might have interest in moving up to 5 if Smith is available, but no way if it's Michkov who is available. They missed on Patrick a few years ago when they could have taken Makar, so taking the risk of when Michkov will be able to play in the U.S. is way too much risk for the Flyers after missing on Patrick. But my bet is they will be content to take either Benson or Moore, who both look like very good prospects.

  17. Will Smith is the most over rated prospect since maybe Alexander Daigle, taking Smith over Dvorsky would be a horrible mistake however thankfully Kent Hughes wont make that mistake.

  18. Michkov is a Russian…inherently bad enough.
But he arrives Day 1 with a TON of baggage….even by Russian standards !
Usually it takes them a season or two to reveal the typical lack of work ethic / disengaged character / ''just pay me'' attitude.

Beware these terms "best player available" and "for the long term"….. NOT the same things at all.
Warrior leaders are the guys for the "long term".

You want someone who'll block shots and take the cross checks in the crease in May?
Take some Alberta kid who rode the bus for a few seasons…not a Russian.

  19. Habs should drafts some Ukrainian Oprhans instead of Michkov.
Stay in Russia and defend your family against Putin, Mitchov. And dont ever set foot in Montreal

  20. So he said nothing. We may or not move the 5th pick. How is this different than any other team

  21. Geoff Molson is the owner and president of a SHRIMP factory….. Remember the Movie “Forrest Gump” …. Bubba said, “ shrimp is the fruit of the sea … you can barbecue it … boil it … broil it … bake it … sauté it … they is, shrimp-kabobs … shrimp creole … shrimp gumbo … pan fried … deep fried … stir-fried … There's pineapple shrimp … lemon shrimp … coconut shrimp … pepper shrimp … shrimp soup … shrimp stew … shrimp salad … shrimp and potatoes … shrimp burger … shrimp sandwich ………….. that's about it ”.

  22. Hughes said it's highly unlikely they'd trade the 5th pick, said the Florida pick is a possibility to trade…Michkov: it scares us more than other prospects for obvious reasons and we can't say he's more talented than the other players available…we still have work to do … other things said too. It sounds like scouts have had limited access if any access to watch him and from what he said, it doesn't sound like they're sold on him.

  23. People that don't want to pick Matvei Michkov based on his nationality is what's wrong with the world. Go woke or go broke!

  24. Best player available according to the evaluation of a 18 years old kids is something very hazardous.
