Jonesy seems like a really good fellow and I liked his work in the booth.
But … unless I am mistaken he has zero experience in any form of hockey administration or management.
This team has been in shambles for quite some time. Like embarrassingly bad. Getting things right is all we Flyer fans want. Good decisions. A solid, well thought out plan. Smart moves that puts the team on the right path. Prudent and professional management.
So … a pretty crucial hire. And Jonesy is the absolute best person for the job?!

I think the Gold Standard reference is how the players were treated by management in the mid 90s thru 2010. Anything needed, not even hockey related, they got it got help with

Honestly, I’m not bothered by the Jonesy hire at all. Yes it’s kind of a meme that the Flyers will only ever give jobs to former players but he’s a smart guy, a really talented analyst, and has expressed a lot of the same frustrations we all have with the team in recent years.
On top of that he’s probably watched and analyzed more hockey in this era than just about anyone else we could have hired, and will require 0 getting up to speed on the current issues with the team. I am pretty confident he knows what the problems are at least, and that’s perhaps the biggest hurdle for this organization to get over in order to move forward.
If we’re hiring former Flyers in any capacity, Jonesy would be at the top of my list. The biggest downside is knowing for sure we won’t get to listen to him calling games anymore.
