  1. Ridiculous. Pietrangelo tried to take Draisaitl out for the rest of the playoffs so Pietrangelo should be out for the rest of the season.

  2. 1 game for an attempt to injure a player is a joke, but the NHL is more concerned with outcome of games and game/series management than the safety of the players. The mindset that Pietrangelo had while making this play was exactly the same as the mindset that McSorely had when he hit Donald Brashear in the head with his stick, or when Adam Graves broke Mario Lemieux's wrist. Yes there is a difference in the severity of the result of the plays, but should that matter? Todd Bertuzzi didn't intend to break Steve Moore's neck and he probably thought he may get a 5min major , 1 game or 2 suspension and maybe Vancouver loses the gamer when he decided to go after Moore…I mean if that's all it is, it's really no big deal, no big price to pay for payback because the league's policing of its own game is pathetic. The point of this is that I don't think the end result should be the biggest factor in the punishment…I think the intent should be the biggest factor. Contact an inch in a different direction when a player is trying to hurt someone can be the difference between it not being a big deal and it being life altering for the victim. Would you want to play a game with the speed and potential force against a guy who is trying to seriously hurt you? And players do it cause they know, the punishment is trivial and they may get away with it completely. And sometimes someone else ends up paying the price other than the players involved. The league refuses to police its own game acceptably, so players take matters into their own hands, it blows way out of hand and sometimes multiple people have life altering events. When you play a game like hockey you accept a certain amount of risk of serious injury, but when players cross the line, the danger of a life altering injury increases substantially. I believe that more serious punishments for taking these actions are necessary to deter these kinds of actions and the people who do it anyway, should be removed for the safety of the rest of the players.

I mean if the league actually punished dirty players and did anything to protect its players maybe Cam Neely plays a full hall of fame career, maybe Marc Savard has a full career, or Eric Lindros, or Adam Deadmarsh…maybe Steve Moore serves a few games suspension for his elbow on Marcus Naslund and then goes on to play a full career because adequate punishment was given out and it blew over instead of blowing up. I truly believe the league itself is partly responsible for things like this happening because it does not adequately police the game. The refs not calling penalties on dangerous hits from behind or boarding or kneeing plays a huge part in enraging players to the point where they take matters into their own hands. But hey, they will catch that play where someone's stick is broken from a slash, or that "hooking" play where the stick is barely affecting the puck holder at all, but the stick was near him, so penalty…and I guess we also have to think about game management…we just called a questionable hooking call on that team, so we can't call the boarding call where the player could have had his neck broken….if he gets hurt we'll call it, but not if he's ok…cause we're not concerned with players safety if it could affect the score of the the 2-2 game.

  3. I wonder what Kane is thinking. "I wonder why he targeted a player with a salary of $8M and not me, a player with a salary of $750K. I don't understand consequences."

  4. NURSE GETS ONE GAME AND PIETRANGELO GETS ONE FOR INTENT TO HURT WITH A GOLF LIKE SWING , INCREDIBLY UNJUST AT LEAST 2GAMES AND A FINE …
THE NHL DO NOT WANT A CANADIAN TEAM TO WIN THE STANLEY CUP DEFINITIVELY. WRONG … INDEPENDENT REVIEW .
ITS BASEBALL / GOLF LIKE SWING KELLY RUDEHY IS RIGHT 3 GAMES

  5. Pretty sure Isles Pageau got nothing for his slash breaking Teravainen’s hand in the Canes first round series. It’s a disgrace. So Oilers need to lose Drai for the rest of the season for Pietrangelo to get what, 2 games? Vegas takes that trade off all day.
    Stay classy, NHL.

  6. That was 100% INTENT To Injure! He was trying to hurt him permanently! These idiot announcers don’t know there ass from a whole in the ground….. SCREW THE NHL I’m done with this JOKE Of A Sport!

  7. knee checks and slew foots are far more dangerous and vicious than stick swings, even stick swings at the head. Pure NHL BS!

  8. Bettman's favorite team VGK have to be relieved it is only a game, but then again Oilers are the recipient of how many # 1 overall draft pickups in the last 15 years? Eventually it will even out one or the other. 😅

  9. There is plenty of room for all kinds of dirty, cheap play in the NHL especially and including all forms of deliberate intent to injure and two-handed stick swinging – it's ALWAYS been this way!

  10. Pietro also took off his gloves & started throwing punches at McD (who had come over to show support/that it is not ok to two handed chop Draisatl -(but was not trying to fight & never does)…. somehow that is not instigating but Nurse grabbing Haugue & letting Haugue thow 8 punches… is. Refs not consistent & Player Safety is a GOON HEAD.

  11. There is not a single chance inside the universe that's a one game slash
He gets up so it's no big deal?
That is a broken arm without a slash guard on
NOT TO MENTION, obviously meant to injure/disable.
Absolutely disgusting play by a great playerm

  12. So from this day its okey to with intent injure player because you just get 1 game suspension.. NHL gonna be a tragdedy next season if Bettman goes down that road

  13. Kane should’ve gotten a game for the crosscheck to the head/neck. Petro, but that shouldn’t be a buffer for “look what happened to me” as he two hand slashes Draisaitl. Stalker should get 3.

  14. The message is very clear. If it's late in the game and you are losing, and you are frustrated you get to take a 2 HANDED OVERHEAD LUMBERJACK CHOP at a player from the other team and you will only get 1 game…….SO…..If you are a team facing elimination and it looks like you are going to lose the series….SWING, BATTER, BATTER. BATTER….IT'S A HOME RUN!!!!…..Well done NHL. What a disgrace.
Imagine if Draisaitl got hurt badly? Apparently that is what the league is waiting for.

  15. nhl is a rigged joke! should have either been 0 nurse and 1 for vegas or 1 nurse and 2-3 vegas. So i guess its open season on the stars of the game now.

  16. No they made the wrong call. Pet was caught w a justified retaliation hit and served the penalty. Should be end of it. Now you add a suspension because oilhers and now you have real bad blood. Grwat job, league.
And i already hear the oiler homers. Omg he attacked one of our wondertwins!. Ask yourselves why a veteran defenseman with no history of suspensions or dirty plays would make that hit. Never mind i was assuming you were capable of coherent thoughts, my bad
