We already have too many defensemen, especially on the left side, so there’s really no need for Girard. If the Avs wanted to part with Newhook, that would make more sense for the Habs.

Doesn't make a lot of sense but he's 25. I'd rather get a first round pick , but Girard gives us a veteran defenseman who can skate to help Mike Matheson out. 32 points a season from Josh Anderson (29) isn't worth as much as people think it is. Saves us 500,000 in cap space a year.

I wouldn’t be willing to trade Anderson for a Defenceman we have a lot already if we are moving Anderson we would be moving him to move up in the draft and even then I don’t think we would be apart of that I would rather keep him he’s big he skates fast and he’s pretty reliable to give you 20 goals a season no matter where he plays in the lineup and he’s amazing in the playoffs I think we should be keeping Anderson!
That trade makes no sense, you should check the validity of your sources because that makes absolutely no sense for Montreal.
Never trade with Sakic, he is smarter than Hughes, we already have bad trade. (Lehkonnen for Baron)
I laugh every time I hear the trade rumours for Girard to Mtl it seems that the least amount of value the Avs could possibly get , that’s what people start with rumours,,, Girard had more pts this season than Anderson this year and he’s a Defensemen,,, plus career stats ,,,makes sense for Mtl doesn’t for Colorado,, if they do trade G, it will be for a second line centre or a top 6 F,,, Anderson hadn’t shown he can be that since his 25 goal season a long time ago
Habs have a wealth of Defensemen prospects and are probably looking at needing to trade one or two of them in the next 2-3 years. Losing Anderson for a 5'10" Defenseman is questionable, and after taking an in depth look at Girard's advanced stats, he would not be an upgrade, especially considering that he plays for a solid team.
But of more significance; all teams are struggling with the Cap and the Avalanche are the desperate team here. I see the Hughes (and other GM's) pulling off another, accept a Player who a team wants off the cap with a 1st rounder thrown in exchange for…future considerations.
As an Avs fan "no" as much as the Avs need to get heavier up front because of Landy absent of next season, because it may only be a season, the Girard move should go for their biggest move for 2 or 3C that maybe signed 2 years or nore. As for the Landy set to miss one season so far, I like them to sign or/& trade for 2 or 3 players that can audition long term contract and to add a little more depth instead of loading the $7m for just one player that will walk next season. Players like 2 possible breakout stars and/or affordable a veterans. The 2 possible beeakout stars will give the Avs better trade bait if need and/or might be a long-term fix if the Landy situation worsens. Anderson a get player but is know to be subject to injuries and, at times lazy won't mix well with MacK expectations
Anderson is worth alot more than Girard
