Michkov should be well worth the fifth pick. Even if he takes three years to come over, Smith, Benson, Reinbacher – any of these guys are likely two years away. Might as well take a swing on a player who has the potential to become elite. If he wasn’t Russian we’re not even talking about this kid because there’s no way he makes it to 5

Most people say 3 years but it could realistically be 5 years as Russian teams often sit a kid who wants to leave until he signs for 2 more years. I think that’s what happened with Kaprizov.
