Dubas fucked himself up
Treliving is 💩what he do for Calgary? he messed up Calgary organization
Kings have to decide which players are their future. As good as Kopitar is– and he is, but he's not an elite scorer. They need an elite scoring center, a goalie and a D-man. Gavrikov was fantastic and I think they'll resign him. I can see them parting ways with Iaffallo to free up cap room. Walker and Durzi could also go, but they have Clarke who is ready to star and they have Spence and Bjornfot. They have a lot of young forwards that can step in like Fagemo, Turcotte and others coming fast. Roy could also be part of a big deal, But Doughty and Anderson, Gavrikov with Clarke would be quite a good top 4. Put Roy with Spence and now that six is as strong or stronger thany anyone. Shore up the goaltending with a stud. Add another scorer– either internally or through trade and this team goes to the next level. Arvidsson was dynamic and electrified the offense. Losing him would be painful.
What are you taking about. All those celebrities would be minority owners. LOOK AT SEATTLE KRAKEN. You want this hockey thing to reach places it has never been before right. Go Sens go!
Nylander always goes back to Sweden. It wouldn't make sense to trade Nylander as it doesn't do anything to help with AAV and make is so they can move some cap value around. It they are going to make a big move it's going to be Marner.
Leafs are a dumpster fire right now. Love it
Hayley Wickenheiser
Both the Rangers and Maple Leafs flopped…The Rangers need to solidify the top 6 and Toronto desperately needs an elite goaltender…Trade Shesterkin and Lafreniere [Free cap space] for Matthews!!…Thoughts?
You drastically under estimate angry NIMBYs. If any recent arena deal went to a vote the team would lose….especially ones where significant tax payer money is used. There is a reason these deals never go up for a public vote.
So many high level players possibly being moved this offseason.
Boeser,Garland,Lindholm,Willy/Marner,Scheifele,Dubois,Ehlers,Hellebuyck,Keller,Konecny,Toews,Kane,OReilly,Tarasenko,Meier,Bertuzzi ect
Not just normal offseason players guys who can make a difference.
The celebrity group in the bidding for the Sens kind of reminds me of the group that bought my team, the Denver Broncos. There’s a Walmart guy I think, Condi Rice, and a bunch of other people with loads of money to throw around. Right now I can’t even afford to even go to a regular season game like my Dad used to take me in the late 70’s and 80’s. I was even able to take my sons to a few games when they were young in the 2000’s. Going to the Monday night football game vs the hated Raiders was always an amazing experience! One year my Dad took me to just a regular season game vs the Raiders and he managed to get seats in the South Stands at the old Mile High Stadium. There were fights left and right and beer was tossed all over the place. Good times!
On May 26th, an Atlanta-based group, led by Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank and Atlanta Hawks owner Tony Ressler, will purchase the Ottawa Senators for $1.1 billion, including a relocation fee of $195 million to relocate the Senators to Atlanta for next season. On June 27th, the NHL Board of Governors will approve both the sale and relocation of the Senators to Atlanta in a unanimous vote. As a result, next season, after calling Ottawa home for 31 years, the Senators will relocate to Atlanta to become the 2nd incarnation of the Atlanta Thrashers and play their home games at State Farm Arena, while the Belleville Senators, the Sens' AHL affiliate, will relocate to Athens to become the Athens Thrashers and play their home games at Stegeman Coliseum on the University of Georgia campus.
Approximately 5 million people live in the greater Phoenix area so 46 percent of the vote seems damn good
..why pay Mathews 15 mil.?…let him walk and spend the money on winners..
Thank you so kindly for your update on Calgary. So thoughtful. You are the rarity that realizes that Western Canada exists. Appreciated the update.. Tou are grand
As Avs fan like to see one for one
Col- Lindholm
for
Cgy-Towes
or
Col- Lindholm
for
Girard & 2025 3rd (1st for Cgy 2nd if sign a extension)
Both Toews are key member of their team, and may fill a need needed in both orgization, and both has a modest 1 yr contract. Toews might of price him out Colorado, or the Avs may choose between Byram and Toews, this will buy time on Landy condition weather the Avs can extend Lindholm for long term. And all 3 players has no NTC in their contract. As for Girard, he's signed for 4yrs at $5m and that money would be a good starting block to either extend Lindholm, or go straight into the pockets of Bryam and/or Toews.
Wtf?! That seems odd you’d contact the league for recommendations. Isn’t selecting a gm kinda a major part of the Preaidents job?
Dubas is gone. Seems to have overplayed his hand. Shanahan was a warrior class player. After losing a playoff round and publicly whining about how tough the job is and deferring to your wife as the decision maker, that would have had to be the end for Dubas in Shanahan's eyes. Not reading the room and having your agent inflate an ask that already accommodated months of negotiated 'must haves' is, in any business, interpreted as bad faith.
Sports is big business but at the end of the day it is just hockey. Anything other than Dubas stating "Tough to stomach the loss but instead, I focus on the awesome organization we have built, which anybody lucky enough to be a part of, knows is 1st class. We have a strong core of character guys who like me, want to win. We make moves to add depth and talent and I believe each year we have gotten better. We will continue to do so and if the leadership of MLSE continues to have faith in me, I am committed to doing anything I can to bring home a Cup to Toronto".
#1 priority IMHO is goaltending. The young guy Woll looked good when called upon and might have the secret sauce but Samsonov was often caught out of position and gave up too many weak goals. Move Samsonov.
Defense was outmatched with both Florida opponents and the Leafs need their Coffey, Leetch, Lidstrom anchors to transition up ice without turnovers. Emphasis on a combination of speed and nastiness.
In terms of trade bait up front I think you need to shake things up.
Not necessarily wholesale changes but certainly a blockbuster with at least one of Tavares, Marner or Mathews needing to go. A Losing attitude is a virus that needs to be cut out.
Edmonton went all in this year and are also out in the 2nd round to Vegas, so perhaps there is a blockbuster McDavid and or Draissaitl for Mathews and or Marner. An explosive move that could shake up both rosters.
Another move is Mathews and Samsonov for the #1 pick with Chicago. Do something bold to grab a potential generational talent and clear cap space.
Is a coaching change warranted? Perhaps. Keep in mind NHL coaches earn their chops through experience and just blowing the coach out does not change a losing culture.
A change could be positive and candidly now more likely but only if a world class guy is ready to step in.
Joel Quenneville comes to mind. He took a bullet for what happened in Chicago but is a proven winner.
Now it gets interesting because Stan Bowman, who won 3 Cups in Chicago (with Quenneville a former Leaf) could come in as a package deal. Shanahan with his relationships with the NHL HO could smooth things over for re-reinstatement for both.

I think you misinterpreted the vote by Tempe residents. Please understand that approximately 30,000 people voted out of 60,000 residents. Temp has never been a hotbed for hockey and obviously cannot and did not want to retain the NFL Cardinals who moved out to Glendale. The general feeling in most cities is to not have public money spent for sporting venues. This deal did not cost Tempe voters anything other than to provide tax breaks to the Coyotes owners who were taking on the upfront expense and cost of cleaning up the waste dump and building the arena. It’s more likely than not that no one reading this post will be alive before anything is built on that land. At the same time, no tax revenue will generate for the city of Tempe to the benefit of Tempe residents and close to 7000 jobs will not have been created. There will be no playgrounds for children on this land because of the environmental requirements of remediation to prevent any toxicity. It’s possible that some of the waste includes old plastics, which will leech into the ground water, and if so, Tempe residents will pay a tax to pay for the ultimate cleanup . The coyotes problem when playing in Glendale was that the l building too far west to generate any corporate sponsorships or significant sales of suites. Glendale was a good decision for the Cardinals but they only play eight games per season on Sundays. The coyotes play over 40 games a season including weeknights which meant fans living on the east side would have to drive through Central Phoenix during rush hour, to get to games which was a huge problem. The original arena situation in Central Phoenix at America West Arena was much better in that this central location could draw from both east and west side. The problem was that the arena had 3000 obstructed seats and only 12,000 sellable seats and the phoenix suns owner who controlled the space was not willing to share in revenue. The coyotes ownership at that time had recently purchased the team in Winnipeg with the intent to move to Minnesota, but the old MetCenter was not going to be possible. Phoenix was chosen as a secondary landing spot. The games in America West Arena were almost always sold out and there was a huge amount of support. Just to clarify the situation. I have a business in Glendale and Scottsdale, and unfortunately the best intentions in Glendale were simply not viable and would never be viable based on location. The arena however, was quite good.
