The more things change the more they stay the same.
Was just coming here to see if anyone posted this recap of 32T.
[Also from Friedman:](https://twitter.com/mostlyleafies/status/1660654030593437697)
> He also says guys like George McPhee and Doug Armstrong aren’t coming to Toronto with its current structure (i.e. Shanahan above them)
> Also someone who, according to Elliotte, fits the description that the Leafs are looking for as the next GM told him he wouldn’t be interested in the job because Shanahan’s presser felt like “airing dirty laundry” lol
Grim.
This should put to rest the Dubas was being GREEDY thing, but it won’t.
This sounds like an absolute disaster lol
We knew it. Just like it was in the pension group. Fuck this team, why can’t we have an actual good owner
And Dubas trying to stop that is part of what got him fired.
Which all leads us to believe that Shanny will be hiring a yes man. Kiss the board’s ass and you can stay. What a crock.
Hello darkness, my old friend
Why doesn’t Shanny just assume the role. Sounds like he and other top goons are blocking GM moves or at least pushing toward moves
How many cups would we have had we just one owner after Ballard…? ( presumably this owner is not a douche)
What would meddling from bell and Rogers entail tho?
Our organization is a fucking joke
What I get from this is there are way too many cooks in the kitchen.
This team is so cooked
Why are some acting like it’s such a shocker?
Bell/Rogers/MLSE clearly only cares about money and doing the bare minimum to get maximum amount of money.
Winning or losing isn’t as important to them. Building a good culture isn’t important to them. Having people who are happy being there isn’t important to them.
I know people at various levels who work for some of those very companies. It’s all the same talk. Company just cares about money. Employees well beings aren’t valued. Hardest workers are the ones making minimum wage (which you’d be surprised at how many actually do make minimum wage in these multi billion dollar companies and just get given the « be lucky you work for us because we’re (insert company name), and thousands of people would love to have your job »)
Sure, that might not sound as relevant since this isn’t directly talking about the sports teams, but it’s a very similar culture from executives down to their minimum wage employees.
The whole « Dubas wanted to be with his family more than being GM » narrative is also one these kinds of companies hate. They just want you to live and breathe your job 24/7 and sell out to them and if you don’t, then they just act like you’re not a good fit.
This is bad news because someone on that board – the stupid Rogers son, did not want to bring back Masai after he brought the Raptors a title.
Prepare for the dismantling of this team at the hands of corporate. Typical Toronto bullshit.
Why is this randos tweet being posted here without even the tweet in the title?
This is just some guy posting about his impression of a Friedman article.
I recognize i myself shitpost probably too often but the mods have really let he standards go lately.
I also think people are forgetting that no organization is going to be all sunshine and roses when a team with such amazing regular season success and a Stanley Cup contender flames out dramatically for 5 years in a row.
Especially in the biggest market in the league.
This team still has all the resources in the world and winning cures all.
Make the right moves and none of this will be an issue.
if the players were happy with dubas/keefe then heaven and earth should have been moved to ensure both were retained
They run this team like it is a telecom. Hockey doesn’t work that way.
What the fuck is a birky?
Dubas being “greedy” is a convenient MLSE narrative. Anybody who knows anything about Bell and Rogers toxic corporate culture can understand that the demand for more autonomy was the likely deal breaker.
Rogers and bell couldn’t stand by just fucking us on our internet/cable/mobile bills…gotta fuck up our hockey team too.
Things are good. Real good.
So, the real reason Lou was replaced by Dubas is because MLSE board would be more likely to side with Lou than with someone young like Dubas if there was ever an argument between Shanahan and the GM. Shanahan simply solidified his position as the decision maker for the team.
Ah man I am sure glad we got rid of Dubas then. We can bring in a great hockey mind now who will surely love having Rogers and Bell tell him how to do his fucking job.
That structure seems to have worked well for the Raptors who eventually won a championship. Same ownership, similar structure (President & GM). I think the framing of it is hilarious though, to make it seem chaotic as possible because of our frenzied media and doomer fanbase.
Yeah this teams over. Rogers and Bell should have no influence on the fucking team
Another nobody on twitter just regurgitating info as their own
Dubas had five kicks at the can to appreciably improve this team’s fortunes towards advancing to the Stanley Cup. He didn’t get it done.
Too much faith in a ‘core four’ that couldn’t raise their game in the playoffs. Too late to realize the shortcomings with the players that almost a third of the lineup were swapped out at the trade deadline and could’nt fully integrate with the remaining players, in the final 18 games leading up to the playoffs.
Too much faith in coach who’s structure clearly doesn’t work in the post season.
NEXT!
I’ll always remember the day when it was reported that they were going to hire Scotty Bowman as Leafs President. But then the deal was killed by MLSE.
Then Scotty would go to be an advisor to the Chicago Blackhawks and win 3 more Stanley Cups before retiring.
I think that MLSE just wants to put a « yes man » in as president.
