Who would be the ones getting moved?
With Lucic and Lewis gone that’s two of our oldest
With Monahan, Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Gio and Brodie all long gone, exactly who is the core anymore these days?
Backlund, Mangiaoaje and Lindholm are about the only three with real tenure. And that’s barely 5 seasons.
Does this mean Lindy and Backs are gone?

I watched the presser and I think this quote is a bit out of context. He followed it up by basically saying by core, he means the makeup of the team and that with 7 UFA’s you gotta manage assets and he wants spots for youth.
With Conroy, and the way he talks, you gotta give him a bit more runway cause he’s a chatty Kathy. He’s not blowing up the core.
Edit: he also said this current roster can do damage and make the playoffs. He wants youth in the mix but realizes 7 UFA’s mean he’s gonna have to have some chats with players.
I liked to hear that, but I also hope it means Dustin Wolf is in the equation. He’s ready to be the backup at the very least.

We have 8 vet forwards locked for opening night, which leaves 4 spots. I believe it’s likely 3 of those are Pelletier, Coronato and Duehr. So you have one more spot. I expect you sign someone to compete with Ruzicka, Zary, etc for that spot. IF we trade anyone, I imagine they get replaced by a vet. I don’t think it’s smart developmentally or competitively to play more than 4 super young guys.
