Winnipeg should just flip him to Boston. After a year Dubois may want to stay and would haunt Mtl for the next 8 years. Dubois for Suski is a far trade straight up. Also they would get there french speaking captain

I wouldn’t trade Anderson straight across for Dubois let alone throwing a first rounder and Dvorak in the mix, especially when you can just wait him out to UFA status and sign him for nothing. Montreal isn’t in a spot where they need to rush to contend next season.

The proposed Jets/Habs trade seems reasonable, given the circumstances. However, instead of Florida's 1st, I'd push for a solid prospect, like Mesar.

What do you think of this trade instead.. Montreal gets PLD and Connor Hellebuyck for Josh Anderson, Mike Hoffman, Christian Dvorak, Jake Allen and the Florida Panthers late first round draft pick?
Montreal should just wait the year out let another team take him for a year and than get him in free agency as the price tag will be too much if I was trading Anderson I’d rather trade him for other assets as his value with other teams if pretty high like Calgary
Realistically if Winnipeg shopped PLD the best they could get is a second and maybe a third or fourth pick plus a player.
Montreal is not giving up prospects or their top players for PLD. They wait a year and PLD joins the HABS.
At best Hoffman plus a second.
No team is giving up a first for PLD.
My belief was Matthews was not going to re-sign with the Leafs even if Dubas was GM.
Dubas was playing high stakes and Shanahan canned him for it. Dubas year end presser was part of Dubas plan to see if he could squeeze Shanahan out of the decision making. (Shanahan should have been sacked by the board long ago).
Leafs should have kept Lou another 1-2 years. People forget Lou took the Leafs from last to 6th (0.640 winning percentage) in two years.
Dubas biggest mistake was wanting to win in his first year rather than taking time to build a team around Matthews.

Your trade offer is the BARE MINIMUM I would consider from Montreal. I d just open it up to all teams and let them negotiate a long term deal. Then it's between Avs, Boston, Rangers, LA, Isles…oh yea, and MAYBE Montreal.
Pierre-Luc Dubois (PLD) want to play in Montréal .
Winnipeg Jets want to make him happy but not at they expanse therefore they want one of those 3 choice in the package deal A) Nick Suzuki, B) Kirby Dach C) their 5th overall pick in 2023.
PLD for Suzuki or Dach is like changing 1$ for 4 quaters 0,25$. What is the point of that trade for Montréal.
Montréal don't need PLD right away they need him in 3 years when they will became a cup contenders. However there is plenty of teams in the NHL who would take PLD for 1-3 years at a reasonable price. Don't forget PLD is a RFA therefore anybody can offer an hostile offer for him.
Dubas planned this tried to push the Leafs hand. it was all in the media before any of this started that dubas was pittsburgh bound agree in principle to a deal then dont phone like you said you would you email.. Showed his age on that one
To all you Habs fans. PLD could go to NYC and fall in love with the city. The same with Boston and LA. You're all so confident it's Montreal or bust. Imagine him playing for the Bruins for the next 7 years. Karma… for trying to rip-off Winnipeg. I grew up a Habs fan but the way this has played out from Montreal is pretty sleazy… Not very Canadian. I'm sure Patrice Bergeron grew up a Habs fan but seems quite content in Boston with winning the Cup. Been a while for the most storied franchise in the league…. Maybe this attitude is why why.
I am a Montreal fan. Patience is needed. I would not do that deal and wait till next season. Especially if the competition will increase
I dont see why the Habs woukd have to give up Anderson. Devorak and Florida first plus a prospect should be enough.
