@Hurricanes de la Caroline

    Pesce/drury and our 1st.

    Edit spelling. I’m day drunk.

    The deal mentioned yesterday is too much but I think that’s the framework of a deal. It’s gonna take one of our D men and Necas to make a deal for Marner.

    Marner would be essentially adding a second Aho to the lineup with his 2 way play and he’s also very much a team player with most of his points coming from assists.

    Would be a massive pickup for our top 6 with Aho, Jarvis, Svech, kk and Teuvo

    I’d give up Skjei. Pesce is a non-starter

    I’d really rather go after someone that can put the puck in the net. There’s almost nothing gained here if it’s the deal they mentioned in the other thread. In fact I say we get hornswoggled in the deal

    I would prefer to keep Nacho, but if we deal him, can’t it at least be from someone with a lot of grit?

    yeah I just don’t know. I don’t doubt that there are rumblings and that we’re at least talking and investigating. Marner definitely has a two way game and has put up points, but I wonder within our system where we aren’t holding on to pucks as much, is he still going to lead to generating lots of chances for others? He’s a good player but he’s also not the sniper or garbage man in front of the net that we’re struggling with.

    IDK, I do think the framework of bundling some really good players to get an even higher end one. I just don’t know if Marner brings the skillset we’re wanting to add into the group. It’s not clear if Lindholm would be available, but he’s someone who might not be as skilled as Marner, but also wouldn’t be as expensive, and I think brings a little bit more of the elements that we’d like to add in to the mix.

    They don’t even have a GM…

    Raises the question of who would we want to part with? Necas and Jarvis are the most desired players in our Top 6, but it would be tough to trade either. I would definitely include Turbo if he would help the deal, but he’s older so idk if they would want him.

    As for D-men, I think one of Pesce or Skjei would go over, and I really don’t want to part with Pesce, but I’m good with Skjei.

    Back to Necas and Jarvis, I would personally rather move Jarvis, because when I look at their games, Necas seems to have more of a game-breaking ability, while Jarvis is a grittier player. Both are young and have great potential, but I would be more on-board with trading Jarvis than Necas.

    But these are just my opinions and I’m not a very good Hockey analysts, so ignore this if it’s bullcrap

    I think it’d be silly to give up a number of good cost controlled assets (Pesce and Necas) for an overpaid, albeit really good player. We got almost as many goals from a much cheaper Necas and losing our most defensively responsible right handed defenseman on a good contract would hurt.

    Marner is another passing/playmaker player. He is good, but I think his point total is helped a lot by his linemates. I don’t think with our system, he would be a getting as many points and almost $11m is a lot. I said this in a thread yesterday, I think the Canes would benefit more from a sniper and/or high-level physical player.
