I have zero interest in seeing Sheldon Keefe return. But it also seemed clear there was a dysfunction in the organization, with Kyle Dubas blurring the lines and overriding the coach.
It's odd to me that they are so focused on getting Matthews to commit to an extension, when to me that seems completely irrelevant. As no one would trade anything of value to get Matthews for a year if he doesn't want to play for that team because then he'll just walk next year. And if it's to a team Matthews wants to play for then the no-move clause is irrelevant. Same thing with Nylander.
Marner is the only player you're in a rush to trade if you want to change things up. As you could trade him to a team he doesn't want to go to now, they have him for a year then trade him to a team he wants to play for during the last year of his contract and get back what they paid for him. That would probably be very appealing to some of the teams that want to win now. Other than that all of the core-4 are only going to teams they want to play for, regardless of when you trade them.
It will be same old next year. Media will gaslight the fans thinking they are winning the cup. Rinse and repeat after 5 years. How Shanny is still with MLSE is beyond me.

Shanny needed to build this team with players that play the game the way he used to, then we might in some sort of contention. Until these players play with heart, passion and the will to win, this team is doomed. We’re here because the players we have don’t have that in them, at least yet. Can they? I don’t know, but I’m tired of watching this team give us hope and then crush our hearts within a week of each other.
Am I crazy here folks? If we had players like Shanny played, would we have not won by now. I just don’t understand how Shanny changed his mind set of how the game needs to be played to win.

Shanahan tried to get cute and hedge his bets based on what GM candidates were out there. He said himself that he was already starting to talk to people before Dubas had given an answer on the original offer. If you're talking to people, it tells me you don't think your guy is the guy. If that's the case, get rid of him, period. The answer is in that you're asking the question in the first place. Shanahan should have told Dubas to clean out his desk Monday morning and made the announcement that afternoon.
Give him a chance because the LAST g.m didn't get it done

Who is Dubas draft? No one. He's overrated and was given talent .
If the core isn’t changed i don’t care who the GM will be, this team will NEVER win anything meaning full. The softness may could be blamed on dubas, but ultimately the players decide if they are fine with being losers…… Change the entire dam roster, mangers i dont care , the only thing i care about is winning, and this dysfunctional current build must go .

They have to replace the asst who went to the Caps…bring in Boudreau and have him their as a Co coach…and if it aint working fire Keefe and you have Bruce waiting to take over team…even if you play out the year…Keefe's contract done..might work

I would like to thank Treliving on making the Florida panthers who they are today. Without him giving up on Sam Bennett and signing Tkatchuk to a bridge contract instead of a long term deal, he has helped build a solid Stanley cup contending team

Would Love to see the PHEONIX Coyotes move to Toronto as a 2nd N.H.L. Team, then you would see some major changes once the Coyotes start to kick the Leafs Ass
Dubas turning down Pittsburgh. Huh. Would be cool if ends up in Ottawa. Will make them games interesting.
Matthews will resign but short term 3-4 and we will kick the can down the road about possibly trading him. If Willie is not resigning he will be traded to Calgary in a Toffoli, Anderson deal.
