The Canes have needed toughness for five years now!!!!! That is the missing link!!!!!! It has been!!!!!!! I'm thinking more of an Evander Kane. Skilled, pesky, and can throw them! Taking the C from RBA was the worst move in franchise history. He was still the leader. You should not take the C away from the clear leader to give it to your superstar player just because everybody else is doing it. It takes more to be a leader that most points in the room! Eric Staal was not ready for that and it showed in his stats following him getting the C.
This take is dumb. Florida didn’t win because they were tougher; they won because they had Bobrovsky in net and Tkachuck scoring the clutch goals. Brent Burns cup checking Tkachuk was far from the “play of the game”. You guys have been watching hockey for a long time so I expect better from you all. The Hurricanes are one game-breaking player away from winning. You can’t win with only a game-breaking player, but they’re the ones that make the difference in tight games. Getting more “sandpaper” will lead to more penalties and more losses.
