    Let’s run it back babbbbby

I’m ok with this. I feel like we had a good enough team to win this year but went up against a great playoff team on a heater.

Also there will only be two more possible core four years with Tavares’ contract off the books and hopefully the big three will take some discounts.

  3. TheGapInTysonsTeeth

May as well let the good times roll!

Team’s stacked. Why make changes now when they’ve been having so much success?

  4. mohawk_67

Awesome. When it doesn’t work the first 5 times, it will work the 6th. Right?

  5. biggiexo

Treliving gonna toss away Gio and Brodie again 💀

  6. Internal-Detail-8191

My toxic, love/hate relationship with Mitchell Marner looks to carry on it seems.

  7. Intelligent_Chair901

This is the way. You run it back with the Core Four and sign the younger three long term. A ton of cap space opens up in two seasons and this keeps the Championship window open for at least 5-7 years. We only need one.

in before everyone loses their mind. Relax people. I’m fine with keeping them as the chances of making a trade that makes us better by removing them is extremely unlikely. I’m also fine with trading anyone as long as it « makes sense ». No interest in giving these guys away for picks/prospects when our contending window is now.

I do agree with the how the blueline is constructed, we desperately need another puck mover that can move the puck quickly out of the zone and join the attack. Too many times, especially Justin Holl/TJ Brodie kill our play in the offensive zone. We need our defencemen to contribute more to our attack, put pucks on net, our defencemen are afraid to shoot to the point. This leads to less rebound goals/deflections.

While if Dubas stayed I would have wanted a core piece moved with the new GM I think he should roll it back for one year and see if he can get the right supporting cast in place to make it work.

  10. Reggae4Triceratops

Honestly, if the core 4 would quit being greedy cunts and let us properly build around em, I’d be all for it. I do not want to pay Marner 13 million dollars or whatever the fuck he’s gonna want next.

  11. DangleCellySave

I’m fine with this as long as Sheldon Keefe is not our coach

  12. LeafsRealist

What’s the definition of insanity again?

  13. JamesCurtis24

    I don’t disagree.

I will say, I’d like to keep Schenn, ROR, Kampf, Accari. But I’m not opposed to keeping the core and looking to upgrade D.

  14. Barilko-Landing

I gotta agree with this philosophy. This is a near one in a million opportunity for an established gm to take on a roster with this much existing talent. He’s gonna have some runway to recover if this plan doesn’t pan out anyway so why not take one more run while Tavares can still play at an above average level? He’s slowly but surely losing his legs and I think he either takes a steep discount on his next deal or you let him walk… That’s when you have cap space and a chance to reload in a significant roster-altering way.

After a 56 year wait, what’s two or three more years really to watch this pan out?

What’s Brad’s philosophy on goalies? Could we possibly put a little more effort and thought into that department please and thank you.

  16. ieastass69

all im gonna say is that Brandon pridham better stop him from giving out term to dudes in their 30s. we didn’t have to worry about that with dubas.

  17. EddyMcDee

D was not the problem this year, in the regular season or playoffs. If we spend more money on D this year it needs to be somebody who boosts the offense.

  18. JohnYCanuckEsq

Brad, we want chaos and change. Leafs nation thrives on it. You can’t be walking in here preaching stability and steady as she goes.

  19. BackTo1975

Wow. Huge changes to what Dubas was doing. Sure worth making this move.

  20. HourOfUprising

    7 years…it doesn’t work with this chemistry

  21. micatola

Do people forget we’ve been near the bottom of the league for points from our defence? With the firepower we have up front we should be higher. We absolutely need to upgrade there.

  22. ImpressingRosin

Treliving is gonna use the $0 available to uhhhhhhhhh draft Stanley Cup contender defensemen with a team that exits the playoffs early and isn’t getting a top 16 pick. I have finally figured out how to Moneypuck

  23. frugalerthingsinlife

Good. I hope he finds the next Makar.

  24. Mrfantastic2

The same core 4 that had what 2 goals in the last 6 games and both were from Willy if I remember right. Tavares had 1 in 7 at one point. I do think the d has to be upgraded especially offensively. We have very little threat of scoring with them and lack of speed proved to be an issue with Gio and Holl especially. Get a speedy forward or two while you’re at it too. Brodie had a tough playoffs but he’s usually much better than that. Doesn’t help that both Willy and marner held out and may do it again even though I imagine they could take a lower amount and make up for it with the endorsements they get.

I always come back to Crosby taking less money so they had room to build around him. Seems almost no one is willing to do that in Toronto sadly.

  25. zig_zaz

Honestly I don’t care about anything except Keefe leaving the team

  26. CMDRShepardN7

Remember folks, if you ever feel like you’re useless, Brad Treliving is Shanny’s secretary.

  27. Francis33

We need 2 top 4 defenseman to replace Muzzin and Brodie so I love this.

  28. crumball15

I don’t want to see Keefe behind the bench again. He’s shown he’s not willing to make the changes needed and too willing to change what’s been working

  29. pineapple-shorts

I wouldn’t want to come in and get fleeced on a bad trade right away either. Let’s see what he does – this is the darkest timeline – I literally have 0 expectations and will judge the team after next years playoff exit.

  30. MacAttack35

Can we stop posting Friedman’s “thoughts”, please? None of it is based in fact – just pure speculation. It’s misleading and gets people thinking this is coming from a source.

Look at the hole Armstrong nonsense. Lebrun confirmed today that the Leafs never reached out, and the whole rumour started because of Friedman speculating.
