So are they back to wanting to build that west side complex again?

It’s all just posturing. There is an oversight committee that needs to approve business operations for MSG to run at full capacity. MSG owns the land. Penn Station is using this as an excuse to try and force MSG out of operations so they can buy the land and expand. The approval is up for renewal this summer, that’s why it’s suddenly « an issue ».

This debate has been going on for literal decades. And when MSG did that billion-dollar renovation when the Bridges were put in, you knew they weren’t going anywhere.

I have an idea lets just move the worlds most famous arena…

I would say that for a lot ppl (no matter whether its sports or concerts) a big determing factor in attending is commute. I havent been to a yankee game in years because its a pain the ass to get to. I havent been to MetLife in years because to me the traffic aint worth it. My friends go to maybe 1 game at Citi because of the commute to get there.

The fact that you only have to take 1 train directly to the arena is a big positive for getting ppl there.

Also a lot of the nearby businesses will suffer because a lot of their customers come from the arena.

It would benefit the city probably but if im dolan, im not moving it because its a prime location plus it probably brings in a shit ton of ppl the city that otherwise wouldnt really go
