Steal. Having him and Suzuki for a combined cap hit under $16mil for years to come is great work from Kent Hughes.
L
8 years is along time. He kinda reminds me of DeBrincatt and I don’t believe he’s anywhere near 8 and 8.
Love the Cat too
Haters will come out and say this is an overpay. They’re wrong. Paying a stud scorer under 8m per season is an absolutely steal. This deal should age pretty damn well considering the contracts that are being signed nowadays.
Way too much money
Fantastic, that top six is gonna be insane.
Slafkovsky – Suzuki – Caufield
Harvey Pinard – Dach – TBD
Man, things are looking up for Montreal.
This is both a projection deal (he hasn’t yet pit together a full season as a nody of work) and a team deal (everyone knows he’s a perrenial 40 goal guy waiting to happen).
Win win.
As a fan of an aging team it’s scary to see what this conference is turning into. Senators, Sabres, and Canadiens are really building some elite lines with this young talent.
It should be impossible to see this as anything but an absolute bargain for the habs. This kid is going to be a top tier goal scoring talent for the entirety of those 8 years if he continues on the pace he’s going. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a shoe in for 35-40 per season, and getting that at under $8M is such good work.
This is going to age like Nylanders did. I remember everyone saying it was an overpay, and now it’s one of the best contracts in the league.
Can a deal just be a fair deal? Either people say it’s a steal or an overpay. This is just what he’s worth at the moment. The gamble is the term and nobody knows what type of player a 22year old will be in 5+ years.
Great signing, hope he stays healthy.
He deserves it.
This is like the Mahomes or Acuña contract. It will most likely age well
