I can’t imagine a world without Tripp. Honestly at this point especially post second chance and recovery and with his absolutely whole hearted love for the team he’d do the job for damn near free just to keep the access and ability to go to all the games. Obviously not free, but you know what I mean.

I could be dramatic about it, but when it’s all said and done, I’m still gonna watch Canes hockey.

Aren’t they employed by the Canes?

I thought Hanna was the only employed by Bally

As far as I know they’re canes employees, not Bally ones. They should be on the air no matter what, unless the league orchestrates some bullshit tv rights deal

As long as I don’t have to listen to Kenny « Homer » Albert…..

Faust was the TV play by play guy. Nickson and Evans have been doing the radio as play/color and they’re essentially just replacing Faust with the radio crew. Dundon already took care of this when he let chuck Kaiton go and just broadcast mike/Tripp through the radio.

    Mike/Tripp are fine.

Tripper, Mike and Shane are fine. Canes employed. Hannah? Who knows.. as long as the podcast doesn’t go anywhere

I’d think that most broadcast teams will be okay, but there is concern, especially for some markets, about getting picked up.
Without looking into it, did he simulcast the TV and radio? It’s also possible they just didn’t want to give the guy a contact for the number of years he wanted with the uncertainty.

Yeah, the thing with the Kings is they employ a radio crew so someone was going to get squeezed when they went simulcast. We don’t, so our group should stay around since they’re employed by the team!

WRAL Sports Plus (Channel 34 OTA)? Won’t make the team a lot of money, but it is a possibility. They televise Adam Gold (and used to do Ovies/Gold). At night they show the Durham Bulls.

Or MASN – which might actually push Spectrum to finally add to Cable!

I mean, you have to have announcers no matter what, right? And as much as he’s improved I still don’t imagine MM is anywhere near top-tier dollar for play-by-play guys (which, to be frank, is why he’s here in the first place). Tripp managed to survive the Forslund debacle so seems to have some support and is known enough around the league (for better or worse) that he would be fine in any event.

Hannah’s role is eminently replaceable but doesn’t get paid enough to make a dent in anybody’s balance sheet.
