LA had to give up a lot to get rid of Petersen's toxic contract, which Blake signed for and, in the process, had to trade Quick because of it. With this, LA probably will kick tires on Hellebuyck or just re-sign Korpisalo.

The Kings also get Kevin Connauton and Hayden Hodgson, but based on their age and playing history would appear to be depth players for Ontario(AHL). Connauton is a 33 yr old journeyman blueliner who didn't crack the Flyers' lineup this season. Hodgson is an undrafted professional minor-leaguer who's played only a few NHL games the past two seasons. I agree with Shannon that re-signing Gavrikov looks likely based on the Kings' new cap figures.

In a system with underwhelming goaltending, larger defenders become goalie enhancers. As the defenders absorb bodies and shots, goalie confidence increases and skills stabilize. As a Philly fan, I like this deal.

Philly actually did something good
Great trade all around. Flyers becoming worse now and getting a lot of resources for it, Kings freeing up some much needed room (just about a Matthews sized hole that will make the Toronto fans sweat for a second), and Columbus is quickly becoming a very interesting team with that trade. Will be very interesting to watch them in the next few years. Werenski, Provorov, Jiricek, Boqvist, that's a very young and fun blue line. A blue line that will have plenty of talented forwards to feed for a long time to come with Laine, Kent Johnson, Marchenko and probably Leo Carlsson.

Grans moving on kinda sucks, he's a real solid prospect with offensive upside, but he's a few years away from being a good 2way player. His offensive upside could maybe even help PHI now, but he's rough defensively teamwise (his 1 on 1 is pretty good).
