@Rangers de New York

A 1OA. Why would we do this? It would take overpayment they wouldn’t want to do. He’s too young to move.

Here’s the problem with any hypothetical Laf trade.

Laf is 21 years old, has scored 39 points while playing mostly at even strength. Those are top 6 numbers on most teams.

He’s team controlled for 4 more years.
His cap hit will likely be reasonable for the next few years(bridge)

So the rangers would need a top 6 wing extremely cost controlled, and a young prospect to replace that top 6 wing in the future.

    See how likely that is?

And that ignores the fact that if drury moves Laf, the rangers fail to win a cup with his replacement and Laf goes on to actually produce. Drury is labeled one of the worst gms ever.

Non existent. I would also be interested in him as a GM.

There really is no hypothetical Lafreniere trade that would make sense and there’s definitely no trade with the Canucks that’s even plausible.

I mean, just looking at the canucks on capfriendly for 2 minutes and it’s easy to see that they’d be a horrible trade partner with the rangers for any trade.

    Laugh and hang up.

Or should I say, Laf and hang up

    From the author himself:

    >Ultimately, I can’t see the Rangers giving up on Lafreniere this early in his career. Especially not for anything the Canucks have to offer that would make sense for both sides.

For all we know, the rumor about Vancouver being interested could have been because of a single phone call:

Allvin: Hey Chris, Patrick here. Any chance you’d move Laf?

    Drury: No.

    Allvin: Alrighty then!

Laf is the cheapest he’ll prob ever be and there is offensive upside there. They’d be foolish to trade him rn imo.

The player is in there. Force feed him mins on a cheap deal to extract said player

Laf is not going anywhere unless a team comes in with a high priced tag RFA contract that rarely happens.

Must be a slow news day at forever Blueshirts. There’s probably 31 other teams that would be interested in him.

Giving up on a 1OA who hasn’t gotten a chance to play on the top 6 and no power play would be insane

  12. Fair value starts at « E » and ends with « lias Pettersson »

Id do it for a cost controlled top pair lhd. I guess that’s kind of what edm tried to do with hall, which we all laugh at, but if a top lhd pushes down Miller and Lindgren, and othmann takes over as the devolving lw by 2024, anyway, maybe it works.

I know there’s lots of ways to win. You need strong center depth. Colorado and Tampa had skilled and deep d corps tho. Even the 94 rangers had 3 hof dmen. I don’t think it’s crazy. I’d much prefer trading him for a top dman, if he’s traded, then for another winger.

For Pettersson, sure. Otherwise they don’t have anything of interest.

The Rangers have done nothing to help Laf. He’s only 21 years old. If they trade him they’re admitting they don’t know how to develop players.
