@Maple Leafs de Toronto

I hope we have no plans to bring him back at any price! He’s become a liability, refs won’t give him any calls and will look for reasons to call against him. Thanks but time to move on

    Enjoy that 7×6 from Edmonton!

  3. If they werent going to pay that for Hyman no shot for Bunting

  4. Svalbard38

Can’t blame the guy if we’re offering 3 and someone else is offering 5. I can see Bunts taking a bit of a discount, but I can’t see him turning down millions.

  5. I mean Bunting has often been more of a liability. If he wants to leave for more money he’s free to.

  6. sokocanuck

Would like if they could keep him but there are other places I’d prefer to spend the $4-$5m

Don’t let the door hit you on the way out

  8. RattledRed

Love bunting but no shot we pay anywhere close to that…

    People here are cold af…

Lmfao that’s too much money and term. He’s gunna look good in oiler colours.

I feel like $4.5m x 5 isn’t unreasonable for bunting. start pushing the dollars or term any higher than that and I start getting nervous. still feels like he’s somehow underrated, but I’m ok with the leafs not going long term on him.

I don’t mind Bunting on the team, but he’s far from a Hyman level player. Hopefully Robertsons body can hold up this season, I think he has the ability to replace him if healthy.

  13. Survious

He would look good in a Pens uniform…

  14. AustichMavarlander

Dumb GMs everywhere i guess…. def not a 5m per year player gimme a break…. obviohsly the refs wont hate him as much in a different jersey but still, also fuck Nick Kypreos and Darren Dreger both are loser schills for the agents

  15. icheerforvillains

I guess we will find out how much his numbers were skewed by playing with Matthews.

No way Leafs can afford to keep him, wish him best of luck wherever he lands.

  16. terimaki89

whoever pays him this will regret it.

It became very clear that at no point was he able to drive a line or even take advantage of matchups in the bottom 6. Bunting – we’ll miss ya buddy but aint no fucking way.

  17. Flashy_Ferret_1819

His numbers are vastly inflated playing on the top line. He isn’t worth more than 3. His antics are straddling the line from effective pest type player and liability. If some other team wants to give him that contract I’m happy for him but see ya.

  18. AhTreyYou

We’re such a question mark on LW. We’re hoping Knies, Tavares(?), Robertson and/or Jarnkrok take the top 6 spots obviously but I’m still concerned

The players are not to blame for a non seasoned GM. No one’s stats have fallen further then Mathews this year. What do you think it’s going to cost to keep him. Stop looking at a former consistent first over all and look at the more inconsistent one. His new contract is going to run a lot of talent out of Toronto.

  20. Yes? He’s not in our price range but he put up 63 and 49 point seasons. That’s pretty typical to be in the 4+ range.

  21. DaltonFitz

Thanks Nick, not like this hasn’t been logically assumed by everyone following the team since October.

  22. shanster925

That’s fine. Give the money to Acciari, Schenn, and Kampf

  23. DontToewsM3Bro

Bunting isn’t worth more than 1.5m per

Any team Leafs or whoever will regret it

  24. Mother_Gazelle9876

He is a replacement level by player. I don’t think hockey GMs are the smartest bunch, but no one is dumb enough to pay Bunting that much

  25. PM_Me_Your_Cuck_Porn

Can we sign that Spearing dude from the Petes? Undrafted Toronto boy with a punchable face and a sports-related verb in his last name, he would be the perfect Bunting replacement

  26. Tuxxmuxx

Chicago overpaid like hell for that Athanasiou deal, and I feel like it was mainly because they knew they could because of how much cap space they have that they aren’t going to use in the next few years. No one should be compared to that deal.

Now, do I think Bunting could get 4-5 for 5 years as a UFA? Yes, because I think there’s comparables to him around that area, but Athanasiou and his deal are not comparables, Bunting is the better player and Chicago overpaid because they could.

  27. yt1nifnI

Bunting isn’t worth that kinda money.

  28. Vilheim

Something seems slimey about how every off season we get people in the media saying « teams have told me they are going to offer this Leafs FA x$ by xterm. » As if that isn’t tampering.

  29. areu_kiddingme

I wanna keep him, hope they make it happen somehow, even at 4m he could give fair value or exceed it and that JT contract will be gone by year 3 of his contract so the cap hit won’t be an issue

  30. makingdabandseason1

Lol, Bunting came here just to downvote everyone waving goodbye. Let’s be real, guy was waiver fodder before the Leafs picked him up and started feeding him scraps.
