I think after watching through this it’s becoming a bit more clear what kind of roster we’re trying to become.
Babcock (if he really is the coach) usually has a heavy possession driven system. Potentially similar to the Devils. If that’s true he should fit in nicely, if not overwhelmed by playing more critical minutes until Jiricek ideally forces him down the lineup. An expensive contract, but I think it has decent potential for us in the first 4 years
If he can really enter the zone and hold the line it will be good. 8 years is worrisome but if it works out I guess that’s the cost of doing business
The thing people are forgetting is that we’ve been without a reliable and healthy right defender to set up laine for his one time shot since we traded away Jones. I think we have our guy. The cap will look *much* different in 6 years, as well. The team will be fine.
