    I think when you take a 6' 4" 180 lbs dude and put him in 10-20 extra pounds of goalie gear hes going to knock the net loose just by moving into it, Combined with needing to be fast to reposition for a pass or something this doesn't seem on purpose hes just a big dude.

    I’ve played with a lot of goalies from Thunder Bay where Matt grew up and every game the net would come off at least 3 times so it has something to do with what he was taught.

    being a goalie myself, I can say for a fact he did not do it on purpose. the posts are our most important ''instrument'' when it comes to handling cross ice passes or close play.

    Maybe the reason for more in close games is because he might try to go harder so there is no goals against so there are more dislodging than in normal play?

    💯 he's trying it 😂, this guy is the worst goalie I ever seen I'm my fuckin life and was gifted them cups with Sid and Gino.

    It really depends. Some looked like intentional, most didn’t. Coming from a goalie perspective knocking nets away is common if you are powerlifting into it. It’s just not stiff enough.

    Most goalies would prefer nets to be pretty solid but players could get really hurt from them, so it’s a lose lose overall

    Of course he is. They all will use anything they can and is legal to win. They are professionals and it’s all about the WIN.

    I've played hockey my entire life and I can tell you that goalies know all the tricks to get more rest time or a whistle. Yes he knows what he's doing. Goalies are also good at making these things look like an accident. Sometimes it genuinely is an accident but if it happens that often he definitely knows what he's doing.

    So as a goalie I don't think he was doing it on purpose. Although I've played against goalies that do knock it off on purpose. I would say the ice crew needs to step their game up.
