The salary cap for 2023-24 should be announced before the NHL Draft, but is expected to go up by about $1m. Habs should have about $12.4m in cap sapce with Price’s contract on LTIR.

I expect Gurianov, Harvey-Pinard, and Ylonen to be re-signed. Drouin will likely go to free agency. I’m expecting Byron’s career to be over, unless they sign him to a cheap one-year deal if he’s healthy. I don’t expect Monahan to be re-signed, but maybe if Hughes thinks he can be moved at the deadline he’ll be brought back. Tierney and Belzile will be let go.

Very interesting. Left wing, right defence and goaltending seem to be our biggest flaws with no apparent key prospect incoming.

    EDIT: meant right wing

Good work! my personal opinion, based on their past performance (not potential):

Left wing: RHP should be higher than both Slaf and Pezz

Centre: Evans should be ahead of Dvorak

RD: Kovacevic should be ahead of Barron

    Goalie: Monty ahead of Allen

I forget Barron is still just 21. You can see he has the tools, he has 2-3 years to round out his game and with the lack of depth he has the chance for ice time. Overall I do feel like this prospect pool is the best we’ve had in a while. I feel like we say that every 2 years but this one feels different ![img](emote|t5_2r10m|5676)

    *looks up 2024 draft class

one of the benefits of being rather weak everywhere is that we do not need to go hunting for a position in the next few drafts, we can just (hopefully lol) be smart and draft the best player without worrying about how they will fit in the lineup in the future

next few drafts are also stacked, with some lottery luck we are in great shape

Isn’t Caufield a RW? He plays on the left on the PP for the one timer, but I’m pretty sure he’s a RW in 5-on-5

Am I the only one to see right wing as a major need? I see Anderson as trade bait at some point down the line; Gallagher is not getting any younger; the less said about Armia the better; Joshua Roy shows promise but I’ve been burned with prospects too many times before and he hasn’t made it yet.

Man, this team is weak and shallow at every position besides LD. Hopefully some of the prospects start panning out because we could use help every where

Wait we’re still paying Alzner 😂
