I hope they get someone else. He would be a good 3c which fits our needs after a stopgap 3c this year, but I want players with the x factor. The thing that separates them from the rest. Big fan of Oliver Moore.
I apologize for posting clips from the Sekeres podcast, but Dhali is a recurring guest and shares some interesting info there too.
Sekeres also suggests that he’s heard that Canucks are prioritizing size at this draft because of Tocchet and Dhali seems to agree, a lot of these guys they’re interested in are big.
The Canucks would have to trade down for this to make sense. If they can trade 11th for 20th(ish) and a 2nd it wouldn’t be terrible. But I really want a RHD drafted this year.
Someone good will fall out of the top 10. I can’t imagine they do this if someone like Benson or Leonard is there. This would have to be a trade back.
The Cole Cassels against Mcdavid scenario turned out as a great template for success.

I like Danielson as well and Heidt who I think ends up being the Getzlaf/Pasta of this draft in terms of how he was possibly still available when we look at the draft 5 years later.
I’ve suspected for a while we trade the 11th and I hope it will be to trade back. Most likely it will be to acquire a player from another team on an inefficient contract though….
If we draft him we’ll have to find a Henrikson to play with him.
Assuming a surprise name doesn’t fall it seems like it’s between Danielson or Willander
It’s hard to believe that this management team, which has done a great job of keeping almost every move close to their chest, has managed to leak who they’re most interested in at this draft.
My guess is this is all a smokescreen to try to bait interest in trading up to 11
As long as they arent passing on Benson, Dvorsky Moore or Reinbacher if there to do it… I’m fine with him or Wallinder.
When The Athletic interviewed scouts of NHL teams, Danielson was the consensus for the 2nd best WHL player (ahead of Benson) and the most underrated player in the draft. He has been consistently ranked in the 9th to 13th range in recent mock drafts. He is not a mid-late 1st round pick as r/canucks believe. He is going to go very high. The underrated thing about Danielson is that he is also an older player and more NHL ready. He can potentially play in the AHL as soon as the end of this season, and make the team from training camp in year 2. He has very few holes in his game, and plays a very pro-style NHL game.
Max Bultman, who covers the Red Wings at The Athletic, said Danielson is his favourite at 9th OA. Bultman said he reminds him of Marco Kasper, but he is better. You can get Top 6 wingers, Top 4 defensemen in Free Agency. The only thing you can’t trade for is Top 2 Centers and Top 2 defensemen. Unless you land Reinbacher or a Simashev (if you rate him highly), big, mean 2-way defensemen (players which Yzerman covets), no other player makes sense in this range. In the top 10, you need to draft game-changers. In Game 7 of the playoffs, do you want a Danielson shutting down the top pairs and playing hard, physical hockey. Or do you want speedy winger like Moore, who you can get in a trade or Free Agency anyways? Danielson is one of the top Centers in this draft, they are not cheap. He’d have gone 5-6 OA last season
