Laviolette: “My message to everybody is: Let’s go to work. Let’s get working. I think the messaging for me with the players is that we’re going to start working in training camp to try to prepare ourselves for the playoffs and a push.”

It’s early but I’m optimistic about him. Think he will provide the team with more structure and emotion which will help us especially in playoff hockey. He talked about laf and kakko a bit saying they need to be given an opportunity. I’m praying they take big steps this year.
After this interview I’m fully on board but I’ll only stay on board if he follows through on his word but for rn I think he’ll bring a lot more positives than I expected
Sounds like something a chat bot would say.
All comes down to today, and either, we heal as a team, or we’re gonna crumble. Inch by inch, play by play. Until we’re finished. We’re in hell right now, gentlemen. Believe me. And, we can stay here, get the shit kicked out of us, or we can fight our way back into the light. We can climb outta hell… one inch at a time. Now I can’t do it for ya, I’m too old. I look around, I see these young faces and I think, I mean, I’ve made every wrong choice a middle-aged man can make. I, uh, I’ve pissed away all my money, believe it or not. I chased off anyone who’s ever loved me. And lately, I can’t even stand the face I see in the mirror. You know, when you get old, in life, things get taken from you. I mean, that’s… that’s… that’s a part of life. But, you only learn that when you start losin’ stuff. You find out life’s this game of inches, so is hockey. Because in either game – life or hockey- the margin for error is so small. I mean, one half a step too late or too early and you don’t quite make it. One half second too slow, too fast and you don’t quite catch it. The inches we need are everywhere around us. They’re in every break of the game, every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone else around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when add up all those inches, that’s gonna make the fucking difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying! I’ll tell you this, in any fight it’s the guy whose willing to die whose gonna win that inch. And I know, if I’m gonna have any life anymore it’s because I’m still willing to fight and die for that inch, because that’s what living is, the six inches in front of your face. Now I can’t make you do it. You’ve got to look at the guy next to you, look into his eyes. Now I think ya going to see a guy who will go that inch with you. Your gonna see a guy who will sacrifice himself for this team, because he knows when it comes down to it your gonna do the same for him. That’s a team, gentlemen, and either, we heal, now, as a team, or we will die as individuals. That’s hockey guys, that’s all it is. Now, what are you gonna do?

or maybe he should lead with this one?
We’re going inside of ’em, we’re going outside of ’em — inside of ’em! outside of ’em! — and when we get them on the run once, we’re going to keep ’em on the run. And we’re not going to pass unless their forward comes too deep. But don’t forget, men — we’re gonna get ’em on the run, we’re gonna go, go, go, go! — and we aren’t going to stop until we get the puck over that goal line! And don’t forget, men — today is the day we’re gonna win. They can’t lick us — and that’s how it goes … The first platoon men — go in there and fight, fight, fight, fight, fight! What do you say, men? »
SHESTY RELEASE US!!!!
That would have been good enough I bet. Revo was the only rah-rah-rah guy in the room and that loss was bigger than most realized. For fuck sake, they needed that voice last round and it came from nobody, not even the coach.
Loved him on HBO, that’s all I got
One takeaway from the presser that caught my ear was that he was reaching out to the players (met Adam Fox today) and was going to chat with all of them by the end of the month. We know that this is something GG didn’t do at all, and Quinn did too much of, but imo, there needs to be some sort of « hey, I’m here » communication in sports. I feel like that’s going to be important in regard to getting everyone on-board and bought into his system/style.
He said a lot of the right things today (would be kinda hard not to, lmao), but as we all know, talk is cheap. Interested to see how his staff rounds out and catch the vibe heading into training camp.
Coach says coach things. I’ll set my expectations once we’re a few months into the season and have actually seen the team play
