    We cant go with a captain next year. No one has truly stood above anyone else yet, except a slight edge to Hughes who has shown great vocal leadership on and off the ice, shown amazing accountability and has signed long term.

    I do worry about Hughes as a captain come playoff time, though. Massive target gets put on his back and if he faulters in that pressure the whole team looks to find the next man up.

    I want to see the Canucks make the playoffs this year, with no captain, and see who really shines both through the regular season and the playoffs.

    No more gifting anything to anyone.

    Captain Petey will turn the Canucks into the Spurs of hockey. Forget the yelling, crying, and chest puffing. It will be stoic, methodical, and strategic system-building optimized for playoff success and dynasty longevity. Swedes, Russians, and Quinn Hughes working together on the new hockey space race. Petey 2024.

    It’s gonna be Messier when he comes out of retirement. Why else would they be clearing cap space?

    With the captaincy vacant and the OEL buyout it’s also going to be interesting to see who steps up into the leadership group. If (when) one of the above gets the C, there could be 2 additional players with A’s… no idea who those would be, it’ll be fun to see which players take the next step.

    Pettersson needs to sign a 8 year deal or atleast any long term contract before he gets the C

    Hughes should get it but I agree with others – if this organization is able to exercise patience then next year will not be an all in year, and we should stick with A’s to let the team grow and develop, then give Quinn the C at the beginning of the 2024-5 season.

    There’s been so much turnover and turmoil and drama. We just need to let things settle this year. Idk if this org is capable of that though.

    First two are gonna jet as soon as their contracts are up. Ownership is a joke and I doubt they’ll want any part of this mockery of a team and how it’s being run. I’ll remain a loyal fan and HOPE i’m wrong….but there’s already rumblings about Petey. Hughes is only a matter of time.

    Petey or Huggy. Im ok with either. I actuaply think Huggy would be better suited just because he has some experience doing post game stuff and commenting on special events. But in my heart i hope petey gets it and is able to lead by example

    When we gave it to Luongo, he wasn’t technically allowed to serve as our captain.

    This is why I think him being retired and working for another team should stop us from giving it to Luongo again.

    Hughes 100 percent I love EP but Hughes chose Canucks with his contract and his dedication to the city. Ppl in New Jersey are so delusional that Quinn Hughes will leave to join them when in fact Jack Hughes spends more time hanging out in Vancouver in the off season.
