On Insider Trading, Pierre LeBrun says the #NJDevils are among the teams Connor Hellebuyck would be interested in signing an extension with.
NJ has had talks with WPG, but what NJD & other teams are wary of is paying him Vasi type money ($9.5 mil AAV), which is what he's asking

I love Hellebuyck and am not opposed to acquiring him but the trade and the deal he signs has to be heavily in our favor
I am potentially interested, but he’s gotta buy into the whole team building thing that we’ve been growing. Jack, Nico and now Bratt on good value contracts, and it all goes out the window if we sign helle to $9m. And we still gotta sign timo.
Whether we get him or not it’s nice that players are seeing us as a destination/contender.
Love the goalie but he’s not going to take a discount to play here unless he strongly believes he’d make us cup favorites. And we’d prob have to move VV.
Lol we are on a Vezina caliber goalie’s short list of teams to sign an extension with. Things I never thought I would ever hear.
This would be quite the answer to the question mark we still have in net. Confident Fitz is going to make decisions keeping the long term in mind.
Anyone have a link to the actual source material? This seems like a guy reporting on someone else’s report and I’m curious if there’s any further context as that stuff is always lost in translation.
I would be surprised if we found a way to get this done. But it should definitely be considered.
I’m curious what a “team friendly” deal would be that Fitz would be comfortable with
This would put us over the top.
STAY AWAY. I seriously think this would be a huge, huge mistake.
akira is him sign for dirt or ur missing the wagon connor
Are we comfortable with his age? He’d be a great player to kick off the contract, but how many seasons of peak form are we likely to get from him? Three or four? And if he’s signed to a deal in that $8-9m range for 8 years, the period when he’s 36, 37 and Jack is still in his twenties would be painful for us.
I genuinely believe we have something special in Akira. I would take the risk to just run him and VV
