My unqualified opinion is that the old management team would have taken Reinbacher but the new management is looking for high end upside

What is with this “showing up in the playoffs” argument all of a sudden with this draft, never seen so much chatter about this crap until the past few weeks

Were the Tkatchuk brothers picked because they would “perform in the playoffs”? No, they were just BPA

A skill guy like Nylander still shows up in the playoffs, meanwhile Matthews and especially Marner turn into pumpkins. Some guys turn it up and others can’t find the next gear, who the F knows

    Just pick BPA

I’m really starting to feel like our pick is going to piss me off lmao, I wish the draft was tomorrow so it would just be over with

I really hope we swap with Washington, get something in return and get Moore, Reinbacher, Leonard or whomever at 8.

People, don’t put much stock into Grant McCagg’s opinion. He skated by on a very loose connection to Trevor Timmins for years. He’s a hack who clearly has an old school mentality. Not that he is necessarily wrong about everything.

Guys, I hate to tell ya but the most likely pick we end up with is Leonard or Reinbacher. Get used to the idea that they’re not picking Michkov if available because you know that’s what will happen.

I’m warming up to the idea of not selecting Michkov I think

I can’t even talk about the draft on this echo chamber of a sub. Been saying it’s going to be Reinbacher since the lotto and people just fling poop at me 😂 I’m excited for the pick but I also think there’s a very good chance they move down.

    Where I’m at right now:

    – Hey, if we pick Michkov, we got a potential star player in our prospect pool. We’ll have to wait a few years and there’s no guarantee he’ll develop into the player we want him to be, but it’ll bring some hope.
    – Hey, if we pick Smith, we get a slick skilled centerman with a lot of offensive talent. Needs to work on the rest of his game, but he’s got top line potential.
    – Hey, if we pick Benson, we get a very well-rounded playmaking centerman that is responsible at both ends, drives play, and has a motor like Gallagher. He’s a bit small and will probably be moved to the wing, but he’ll probably be a safe top-6 player with upside.
    – Hey if we pick Reinbacher, we get a solid well-rounded defenseman. He’s really smart and already has NHL size. He might not be a future #1 D, but he plays the right side and will likely play in a top-4 role.
    – Hey, if we pick Leonard, we get a gritty power forward that can skate. He’s got a great shot and can play at both ends of the ice. He might top out as a good third line secondary scoring guy, but he’s versatile.
    – Hey, if we pick Dvorsky, we get a really strong two-way centerman with NHL size that has a good shot. He might not turn into a first our second line center, but he’s a safe pick to play in the NHL.

I’ll be surprised if we take anyone other than these players at #5. In any case, we are getting a solid NHL prospect that will likely need time to further develop. I hope we get a star, but we need solid NHLers too and I am confident we will get one.
