Lame ass league our jerseys went hard

  2. rajde1

It’s pathetic how the nhl will fold to bigots.

  3. nilimas

Smooth brain decision from the NHL.

What a little bitch move by the league.

The benefits of the donations gained from the funds from the sales of these jerseys far outweighs a few players not wearing them for whatever reason.

Between this and the Saudi’s buying into the league today, it’s a dark day for the old NHL.

Teams will still hold celebrations should they choose, and still sell customs jerseys. Their players can model in them if they choose, but the jerseys will not touch the ice during warmup.

Does this count for cancer and military nights too??

  7. Ruilin96

This is stupid. And it is such a shame. Over the last few years, our on ice product isnt great but our theme night jerseys have been absolute beauties. Such a shame to see them go.

  8. FluidG11

Oh no I guess we can’t be decent human beings anymore since there won’t be validation from opportunistic corporate entities.

  9. FetusClaw666

Isn’t it a military night every game for some team in the states? No camp jerseys then?

Likely the NHLPA supports this direction. Let players support whatever they want to without any sort of mandatory requirements.

They could’ve made a deal so players could wear them in game, maybe strike a deal with the manufacturer so they can sell even more jerseys by making them in game uniforms but no, they don’t even wanna MAKE MONEY smh inclusivity is beneficial to capitalism, how tf do these billionaires even stay rich

But I’m complaining about a league that iNnOvAtEs by using those horrendous digital ads instead of making it easier for ppl to watch the bloody product by streamlining tv distribution, so what do I expect

    Headline should be:

« NHL scraps very popular idea loved by millions of fans to appease 5 bigots ».

Dana white was right when he said “the nhl is run by old dumb fucking people”

  14. championchipcookie

Good. Be done with the constant, unnecessary noise.

  15. BrodyCanuck

This is the right move. If people are that passionate about supporting something, they will go out of their way to still support it with other means. It shouldn’t be set up to make people uncomfortable or look like a bad person just because of a religious belief or whatever else. This was causing the exact same thing that it was trying to fix.

  16. jiffyfly6

On those nights they should put t-shirts or towels with the design on every seat. Get the fans to blanket the arena. Fuck the pathetic old geezers caving to bigots in 2023.

  17. VanCityWildcat

This is a great move and a more inclusive move. Good riddance.

  18. Batsinvic888

What if, to try and get around this, teams wore these jerseys at practice? Then they could still auction them off as player worn.

  19. Knight_On_Fire

It would be nice to have a real leader run the league. The greatest athletes in the world deserve better than weasel Bettman’s bush league.

  20. KrebsCollector

I don’t have an opinion on this, but it makes sense they want to stop all the conflict over players choosing not to wear a certain jersey, but they are just creating a different conflict. I understand both perspectives
