This subs going to be in shambles when they read this.

It kinda misses how often the D switched sides on the fly, but i have no idea how you would even go about counting that. Also I think that’s overblown by our fans and happens with every team. Maybe our D core is a bit more prone to it but I don’t think in a notable amount.

Personally I’ve always had an issue with how handedness and position are used so interchangeably. IMO noting « preferred side » should be more wide spread. Dahlin would be the example. He’s a lefty that throughout his career played on his off hand so really he always should have been considered a RD. Using him as an example of why hardness doesn’t matter is dumb, he spent years of his life learning to play his off hand. Johnson probably going to be the next guy that spends a lot of time on his off hand and again, he spent a lot of time on his off hand during his development so it shouldn’t be surprising if he’s pretty good at it. Taking a random guy that spent his entire life playing on their natural side and expecting them to go to their of side just because « NHL players are so good it shouldn’t matter » is insane to me.

It’s what the atricle says but if were going to trade/draft somebody and expect them to play on their off hand we should do the research and make sure its something they have experience doing. If not we should just try and get somebody playing on their natural side. (Borgen)
