Jake neighbors name is out there in this trade
The holdup is Krug, he hasn't waived yet, and Philadelphia is going to flip him to New Jersey. You would think that would be a good fit for him, a young team on the rise in need of an offensive Dman.
Flyers fan here. Hayes is a veteran skilled player, just not a good fit in Coach John Tortorella's system. Has a big contract which hurts the Flyers' salary cap deficit. Sanhiem is a young defenseman who really improved last year & they would love to keep under any other circumstance. But the previous GM, Chuck Fletcher gave him this INSANE contract with an $ 8 million dollar salary cap hit & no-trade clause that goes into effect after this season. They need to move him. Both could be had in a reasonable trade offer. Laughton & Koneckny are extremely valuable pieces in their rebuild plans – the Flyers would want top players and / or top draft picks in return.
Sanheim is slightly over paid for what he is now but he started to really take off this past season. If he turns into what he started to show that contract is going to look pretty good from a teams standpoint.😊
I believe Berube & Briere might have played together in Philly. Something is definitely going down. Just a matter if its Laughton or Hayes.
I am not at all excited. This deal reeks of desperation in DA’s part. What we need to be doing is drafting the number 1’s. What we don’t need to do is jettison #1 round picks for Philly’s garbage. It makes no sense as we need to address the D. I am actually thankful that Krug threw a monkey wrench into this. Just leave Philly alone, focus on getting three great prospects, and retool the right way by drafting prospects. That is the way to cups, trading for overpriced veterans is a wat to 30 years of mediocrity.
The Blues just signed Perunovich for a one year extension. BFD, why? So he can get hurt in the preseason and miss ANOTHER season? Trade him!
I would prefer Konecny 5.5 M and Sanheim 6.25M…. Then send them Saad and Krug, 25th, and a few prospects.
As a flyers fan let me just say if your getting a retained salary Hayes, sanhiem, Laughton, AND Koneceny and also getting rid of Krugs contract then it’s gonna AT LEAST cost you two firsts a second and a decent prospect
