Impressed with his English for the questions they were asking.
From Earl’s though right?
This is a joke btw, there was a time a few years ago when the Canucks social media asked a whole bunch of players their favourite sushi spot in Vancouver and an ungodly number said Earl’s somehow
I like Simachev, but he just feels like he’d be such a real at #11.
He’d be the perfect grab with the Islanders #17 pick, especially if we could get someone like Wallinder or Benson at #11.
God we just need more fucking picks. It’s just unfathomable that a team that finished 22nd in the league last year has just 1 pick in the top two rounds.
Meanwhile the Blues, who’s just one spot behind us at 23rd, has 3 fucking 1st round picks.
I love Simashev so much, I really hope they draft him.
If we still had that Isles 1st, I’d use it on this kid. He’s a nutty skater and has great size. The only downside is he hasn’t shown much offensive upside. But at 18 years old. If you skate and are a bit of a giant. I’d 100% gamble on you. At worst you’re a shutdown 4/5 D. I haven’t read much about him being a physical presence though, but given how often Myers is penalized for being bigger than everyone, maybe it’s not a bad thing in today’s NHL.
But with the 11th pick, you ideally want guys with offensive upside. Willander, ASP, and Reinbacher have that. Willander and Reinbacher being more two way guys that also can skate really well too. But the Canucks did meet with him, so they clearly think he could be a worthwhile pick at 11.
It’s thanks to people in this sub talking about him that he really rose on my radar. Definitely would be happy if we end up drafting him!
Does he hit?
