Honestly if jets can get this much value for their other players they might have a good young core going forward
I honestly doubt this was worthwhile for the Kings. They were kind of in a bad situation anyway with Vilardi as a pending RFA (doubt they could’ve afforded to extend him), it just feels like they sacrificed a lot of their best depth for one guy
The return for Dubois shows that LA seems to really have wanted him as much as he wanted to be there. I mean, okay, good for them. But Dubois' toxicity has led him to leave two teams so far, I would be shocked if he doesn't want to go to Montreal – again – 3 or 4 years into this thing.
As a kings fan, I’m surprised how quick everyone was to jump to the conclusion of us being robbed. Iafallo is a bit overpaid and I’m fine with letting the contract go, kupari walking is almost a nothing burger when you look at some of the prospects have in the pipeline and add the fact that we are clearly trying to accelerate the rebuild. I love vilardi, he will be a huge loss and might even become better than PLD in the future, but we needed to sacrifice someone to get this deal through
PLD wants to play in Montreal so much that he signed an 8 year 8.75 million deal with LA. Good stay away. Guy is a legit cancer.

Personally I see this trade as not so good for kings. I think Iafallo is a piece that you don't want to trade off, because he is a perfect middle six winger for a team like Kings. I hope Dubois is going to work out in Kings, but I get a strange feeling about trade. Also I think this is an overpay for kings.

great analysis, the jets leveraged the situation super well, who knows, in a few years time Vilardi may develop into that 60-80 point top 6 player and on top of Iafallo, Kupari and the second rounder I think its an incredible return overall

Habs fan here, I feel like we won the lottery. We avoided a severe chronic case of locker room cancer and imploded the Kings rebuild.

What does this mean for Byfield? Great return on the Jets side and obviously kings get their guy. Nice trade, maybe a bit overpay in my opinion but that's what happens when you get in bidding wars. Sad to see iaffalo go but this is great for both teams…

This is a big W for Jets.
It's certainly a great haul for the Jets… But when you really think about it from the Kings perspective, Vilardi is really the only piece it stings to give up and you can live with that to add a big skilled center that can be an amazing 2C at least for the next 5+ years – Possibly even a 1C at times if he really does take his game to the next level in LA. Iafallo is solid but the Kings have a lot of solid wingers, and this trade now allows a player like Arthur Kaliyev to move up the lineup and take on a bigger role. Kupari is a wildcard but hasn't shown a ton. Also, as we know, the cap is going to go up and Dubois is still just 25. An $8.5 million 2nd line center won't seem that crazy 3-4 years from now. And like I said, if he takes his game to the next level in LA and ends up being a perfect fit, he could actually be a 1C. So we'll see.
