    I don’t mind the pick. Benson is the guy I would’ve taken, but at least Willander fills a big hole of ours. We have two incredible offensive defencemen on our team, being Hughes and Hronek. Getting partners for both is essential. We may have that now with Tom Willander and Elias Pettersson. If all goes well with those two, our top-4 will look like:

    Hughes – Willander

    Pettersson – Hronek

    Both Willander and Pettersson have the potential to provide more physicality and defensive stability, which is exactly what this team needs to compete for a cup.

    Next step for our team is getting one or two more forwards that can help on the PK unit. Really hoping we end up signing O’Reilly for that.

    Please, please, don’t be another Juolevi. Willander seems promising with his skating, but it’s clear that most of us are still haunted from that Juolevi pick

    My theory is that Arizona know we would pick Simashev at 11 if he is available so they didn’t want to take any risks and pick Simashev at 6. And then Alvin didn’t want to risk them picking another defenseman from our list so we stayed at 11 instead of trading down.

    Is it safe to say the Canucks are maybe the preferred destination for a majority of young Swedish players? We seem to always have good ones and willander/pettersson grew up loving them

    Lol Detroit took the two guys that I absolutely did not want the Canucks to take and I don’t think are going to be very impactful players. We will see how things pan out for them and ASP does fit their needs quite well but I’d be pissed right now if I were a wings fan.
