Riley Heidt scouting report from #mnwild Director of Amateur Scouting Judd Brackett:
“Slick, playmaking center with elite vision and hands.”

Well there’s your apparent steal for everyone complaining about Stramel being a reach based on public rankings.
I seriously cannot believe he was still there to take that late into the 2nd round. Kid had great reviews going into the draft.
Well we got centers now, but who knows if they’ll be any good.
Really surprised he was still up for grabs. This guy could be the steal of the draft.
[In 68 gamed with the Cougars last season, Heidt recorded 97 points (25-72=97) and 36 PIM. He ranked first on his team in assists and second in points. Heidt recorded at least three points in 11 games last season, including two four-point games.](https://twitter.com/mnwildpr/status/1674446520119066624)
Glad they used all 3 picks on centers. Now we have Haight and Height just to confuse everyone.
I can see a scenario where he ends up being the best Wild player out of this draft. He looks faster and has better hockey sense than the other two centers. He looks physical for his size too, like a Travis Konecny type
Seems like great skills, questionable mental game. 2 postseasons in a row with suspensions, one for a check to the head, tendency to pout and give up when his team is losing. That’s why he fell, otherwise he’s a consensus 1st rounder.
This is the first pick I’ve liked all draft.
Much easier to move centers to wing than vice versa. Stock the cupboards! Between these three, plus Bankier and Haight already in Iowa ( and of course JEEk), there should be options for the bottom 9 dots. Just need Rossi or Khusnutdinov to become a 1C and we’re in business
This looks like a great upside pick. He tied Bedard for the WHL lead for assists. This kid also sounds like an absolute dog.
Comparable is Jonathon Drouin. Boom or Bust pick. Left shot center, 5’11 » 179. Good-to-great vision, IQ, skill, skating, and shot. His compete is awful though: he spends way too much time around the perimeter and picks and chooses when to engage, and that is why he fell to 64. He could be a top-6 center if he hits (1st rounder on talent alone), but teams kept their distance for a reason.

Me like this pick!!!!
Excellent pick and also >>proven<< that he can score.
Fucking Minnesota. We can’t let them keep getting away with it!
