[Baugh] Denis Malgin ne faisait pas partie des RFA à qui les Avs ont fait des offres de qualification, il sera donc agent libre le 1er juillet

Tweet got kinda buried from in the frenzy of the draft, so it may not be breaking news to some.

I liked Malgin while we had him, he definitely exceeded my expectations from when we got him

  2. Square_Saltine

Ya I was a little surprised, Malgin seemed to do alright for us last year

This seems like a move to avoid arbitration, his qfa was 787k so he would absolutely file and get potentially over market salary. The avs cannot afford to have a miscast 4th line guy at anything over 1mil.

Yeah that’s gotta be an arbitration issue.

I feel like you have to keep him. Seemed like he was the only depth scoring we had there in the spring.

Add Ryan Merkley to the list of RFAs who won’t be getting an offer per Peter Baugh

Not suprised. His production was solely on his being given opportunities because of the team’s injury issues last year. You can overpay that kind of production if the expectation is for him to be a 3rd/4th line guy this year.

Is this the end of Malgin Mania?

  9. FunkyKong74

Yes let’s just get rid of all the depth. *sigh*

Keep in mind there is a difference between no offer and no qualifying offer for RFA. Just because they hit the market doesn’t mean they won’t be back. I’m willing to bet this was purely to avoid arbitration. I’d like to see him back with about the same amount of money LOC is making.

Well that’s a pity. Liked his pluck.

Drouin coming to our LW soon, with no newhook or malgin we need 2lw and 3lw.

This doesn’t mean he can’t or won’t sign with us again. This just avoids him using his arbitration rights
