I think this is so dumb someone tell me I’m wrong

    Edit: he’s 33 wtf!!!

  2. level99pooper

Nice having more vets on the team though heavy price tag. Anyone else still not used to us making lots of moves on Free Agency day?

  3. Ducksfan182

Feel like this deal will be a burden in 2 years

  4. ShowYourHands

Absolutely terrible signing. This is a contract Chicago signs. He’ll be 37 when this expires, which I’m assuming he’s not even playing by that time or is just a 6M guy playing 4th line minutes.

If you wanna reach cap floor, it’s with 1yr deals. Gudas overpay is one of the best deals of the century compared to this

  5. The_G_89

This is a huge Overpay for a 33 year old.

  6. DBacon1052

If Carlsson stays a year in Sweden, a 4 year deal would end at the same time as his ELC.

If not, the caps jumping up anyway. Not gonna be upset about getting Killorn.

  7. SixStarz6

Why are these deals so long? Well at least they are good old hockey players.

Everyone on Tuesday: « we MUsT TruSt GMPV »

Everyone Today: « what is happening?!?! »

Bolts fan here, this one really stings for us. He kept saying “ I would rather retire than play anywhere else” or “ I want to retire a bolt” so this hurts. Take care of him💔

4 years is rough. Would have been perfectly okay with 2 or 3 years. This definitely feels like one of those “old boys club” moves. Verbeek likes him from his time in TB and wants him again, regardless of how poorly this contract will age. Meanwhile, there are better and younger forward options signing short term deals for less money.

I like this move to bring in a champion winger who can provide leadership and mentorship to the ice and the locker room. Is it an overpay? Of course. But I don’t really think the Ducks will be ready to contend until the last year of his contract. And by then, the young guns won’t be so young and hopefully will have learned a lot from a guy who knows how to win on a near-dysnatic team. Solid move IMO.

  12. getzysbaldhead69

Good leadership for the young guys and a little protection too. Could be ugly in that 4th year but oh well

  13. Luscious_Luke

Wow, at least we are better next year. Not sure how the deal plays after that

  14. moomoolinoo15

Hmmm great player atm, veterán presence and leadership. Nonetheless, a bit too long and a bit too much money…

With Strome, Vatrano, Killorn, Rico, Silf, McGinn + McT, Z and Terry, there’s no space for the young guys.

Nesterenko, Tracey, Perreault and some others need playing time to prove they’re worth it. But hey won’t get it with so many vets.

  15. adiokido

Killeen is a winner and it’ll be good to have around all the kids. Devils overpaid Palat and it’s turned out well for them.

I get the contract will age poorly, but it’s not like we’re in cap hell right now. With also the cap going up, it shouldn’t be too big of an issue for us until the end of the contract where in theory he helps bring that veteran presence to a young team. Henrique and Silfvy off the books next year and Killorn is a better player than Silfvy for barely more.

  16. kookforaday

Strangely, I thought people would generally be happy about this pickup. I get the Age/Term issue, but Killorn has been a pretty solid forward AFAIK.

  17. Thepickleweed

It seems that there is no winning for you guys. We don’t sign guys- disappointment. Sign guys- disappointment. Too old. Too expensive. Too washed. Too whatever. This place is kind of toxic lol

  18. smoked_before_this

Everyone trying to justify these deals because we have alot of cap space right now are so small minded it hurts me. Spending 10M on Gudas and Killorn is insanity. I don’t give a fuck what kind of intangibles they bring. Verbeek tanking all the faith the fans had in one week with this draft and Free Agency.

I still can’t believe he legitimately believes Strome, Killorn, and Gudas is the best way to spend 15M in free agency. Most teams have their two core star players locked up for that amount.

  19. flyforever16

The Dunning-Krueger effect is strong in this sub this off-season…

  20. freethegrizzlybears

Brings character to the locker room. Did we overpay? Yes, but the kids need to be held to a high standard

  21. rabarbere

Killorn and Gudas are warriors, winners. Kids can learn a ton from them. Their salaries are what they could get elsewhere. Most probably an extra year or two was necessary to entice them coming to bottom dweller Ducks. I, personally, like these trades considering who elese was available in free agency.

  22. IncreaseReasonable61

Not really worried about that last year on that contract.

There will come a time in 4 years where a desperate, shitty team will need a veteran with a bad contract to hit cap floor while they’re rebuilding and they’ll gladly take it from us.

  23. KroganTiger

I’m loving this. I was so worried about the typical do nothing Ducks offseason, but these are two good signings. More pls!

  24. doctor0

Like having a vet with his experience on our team, but the 4 year contract is pretty heavy. Hope this pans out well

  25. thehawktopus

Now this is a big flub by Verbeek. I would’ve gone $6.5×2 for Killorn. Those 35+ years are going to have this signing looking real rough.

Hopefully there are little to no clauses attached to this contract.

  26. dracomaster01

that’s…a lot. sucks we’ll have to overpay for guys to come here but it is what it is. i think we’re still under the floor which is funny. Rico and Silf’s contracts are up next season and if the cap actually goes up like it’s been reported then this contract shouldn’t be a huge hinderance to us down the line. He’ll be a great mentor for the kids as well.
